rockstar45
A couple of weeks ago I went on a bus trip to NYC and visited the Virgin Megastore. I picked up some LP's and one was the a perfect circle - emotive limited orange double LP. Now, I just got around to playing it and the beautiful sounds of what I think are mostly jazz play on both sides and on both records. Both of the records are orange and as far as I can tell the labels have not been tampered with so I am not sure what is going on. I checked the internet for information and can not find anything about this. Whatever it is it is not the emotive album. Any ideas? By the way its my first post and I love Vinyl Collective. jhulud
Was it sealed?
rockstar45
Yup, shrink wrapped with a promo sticker saying Limited Edition Orange Vinyl!!! or something like that. It's just weird. My first thought is that maybe it is double grooved like the tool - opiate album. But I don't have it to compare, so I can not tell. Tried dropping the needle at different points. Nothing. jhulud
This is indeed weird. I haven't heard about this before.
Guest falloutcollapse
Wait, so if I'm reading this correctly, you are hearing jazz music instead of APC?
rockstar45
I did some more listening and some more googleing. From what I hear I think it is this. EUGENE BLACKNELL : WE CAN'T TAKE LIFE FOR GRANTED (LH055) Some clips and info here: http://www.ubiquityrecords.com/lh055.html The inside is etched LH055 but it is packaged as eMOTIVE. This is crazy all of the packaging is official and doesn't look copied. Must be a mess up at the pressing plant.
rockstar45
I guess it would be Funk.
rockstar45
I wonder if the Eugene Blacknell record is orange also.
william
I wonder if the Eugene Blacknell record is orange also. I dont know, but I've thought about buying it before. Thanks for linking to that page though. Reminds me I need to finish this order with Ubiquity I wanted to make a few months ago.
rockstar45
If you buy a Eugene Blacknell record that sounds like a perfect circle eMotive maybe i'll trade ya. I was so disappointed. But maybe i'll like it. Hmm, I wonder how rare this is.

Guest falloutcollapse
That is actually kind of bad ass, IMO.
scottheisel
I have a copy of the Blink-182/Swindle split 7-inch which is actually the Blink-182 "They Came From Uranus" 7-inch just with the wrong labels. No idea how it happened.
rockstar45
While browsing eBay in hopes of a replacement. I found some one selling the same thing. http://cgi.ebay.com/A-Perfect-Circle-wrong-music-on-all-4-sides-of-vinyl_W0QQitemZ110190002992QQihZ001QQcategoryZ306QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

decibel120
I've heard of this happening with cd's before. Once my friend's mom got Meatloafs - Bat Out Of Hell 2 and it was country music burned on it.
monk0nuggets
This kind of screw up is kind of inexcusable. How can this go through a bunch of peoples hands and NO ONE noticed before it went to shelves? Kind of silly. Anyway, its kind of neat that you have a copy anyway. hickey
Or it's just Maynard playing a really bad joke.
