thebiglebowski
Texas Rangers fan here. I'm ready. I follow the Astros as well. Profar out for awhile! I hate the Rangers, only because they have kicked the shit out of the Tigers in the postseason lately.

Yeah, we're going to HURT without Profar.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Jose Reyes to have MRI on hammy Soto to have surgery on knee Juan francisco got DFA'd, Brewers are going into 2014 platooning 1B with Mark Reynolds and LYLE FUCKING OVERBAY
sacredheart
Brewers are going into 2014 platooning 1B with Mark Reynolds and LYLE FUCKING OVERBAY I'm not sure which one is worse to have in 2014. Good luck with that.
maneatingcow
I'm not sure which one is worse to have in 2014. Good luck with that. They are also way better than anything the Brewers had last year so at least its an upgrade.

catalinacaper
Braves released Freddy Garcia... Now the current rotation until minor is back consists of Teheran, Wood, Hale and Gus freaking Schlosser. Who? Exactly.
chamb117
gus schlosser is a hell of a name, though. also, you scared me for a second because you didn't list santana, and i was wondering who their #5 would be. either way, until hale proves himself, that rotation is, for all intents and purposes, gutted compared to recent years. I meant that once Minor comes back (Santana already in the rotation) he would make 6 starters so presumably Schlosser would become a long reliever
chamb117
yeah, of course. but you're looking at a team once deep with pitching now relying on david hale in the #5 spot for most of the year, which probably won't turn out that badly, considering you used paul maholm for most of last year. it's just not star-studded like it once was or could have been
thebiglebowski
What kinda team releases their #2 starter??
catalinacaper
What kinda team releases their #2 starter?? Well they're anticipating Minor coming back, Santana coming in on week 2 as the #2, and Gavin Floyd coming back in May, which would leave them starter heavy by the 4th week of the season. They just didn't want to pay Garcia his guaranteed 1.25 mil to potentially start 2-3 games and then be in the bullpen (because he can opt out of his minor league clause)
thebiglebowski
I was just being a smartass. It was fairly clear to me he was never their #2 and was probably tenuously their #5.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm not sure which one is worse to have in 2014. Good luck with that. last year at 1B the following players over 162 games hit .206/.259/.370:Francisco-62 Betancourt-46 Halton-19 Gonzalez-16 Lucroy-9 Maldonado-7 Lalli-
catalinacaper
I was just being a smartass. It was fairly clear to me he was never their #2 and was probably tenuously their #5. Now Aaron Harang is the #5. 1 year deal apparently.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Rule 5 pick Wei-Chung Wang has made the 25-man roster with the Brewers, 22 years old from Taiwan, only pitched 1 season for the PIrates in rookie ball in 2013 before getting selected in the Rule 5 draft. in spring training he threw 56 of 61 pitches for strikes. this guy could be a pretty exciting pitcher to watch out of the bullpen
chamb117
i'll pay attention to pretty much any import player at this point considering how they've been paying off lately. with that said i haven't heard anything about suk-min yoon on the orioles since he got signed, no idea what he's like
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
got optioned down to AAA because he couldnt get his visa sorted out, Baltimore wants him to get innings down in AAA before coming up to MLB. pretty much missed all of spring training because of his visa issues
