I'm no literary critic, but what I enjoy about Coupland is that he often writes about young people entering the workforce or adulthood and about how they balance that with their own thoughts on youth - such as music, culture, friends. At least that's what I take out of it. He sometimes has different narrators in a single novel, or has a novel take place along different times/events.
