Don't use socialist public schools! Don't call the socialist police if you're getting raped! Don't call the socialist fire department if your house is burning down! Don't drive on socialist roads and highways! Don't use the socialist US Postal Service! Don't collect socialist SSI or Medicare! Don't go to socialist parks! Let's go back to what this country was founded on; greed, religion, and violence! Fuck the poor! Forget your pets, spay and neuter liberals! GUNS!

I mean it seems pretty simple to me. Right now we have more or less market allocated healthcare. Under this system we have more than 40 million people without health insurance and millions more who are underinsured. Also, under this system, the number one reason for bankruptcies are medical bills, because the cost of care is incredibly high.

So it would seem logical that if we want to solve these problems, we have to change the system under which it has come to be. That system is a market driven healthcare system. So, what's the alternative? A government-allocated system in which everyone has access to affordable health insurance and the government heavily regulates the private insurance industry.

Yes, insurance companies would lose money. Yes, doctors may make a little less money. Yes, market dogmatists will argue that a single payer system would reduce innovation in new drugs and medical devices. But what good are these profits and innovation when the system isn't even doing what it's supposed to -- i.e. provide people with medical care.

I don't know, it seems so logical to me. + $.02

that would probably work, besides the fact that our government rarely does anything right.

This. I know what I think should be done but I don't trust the fuckers in our government to do it.

Ask three people about government run health care: Members of Congress, current members of the Armed Forces, and Vets. All would say their health care kicks ass and all have government-run health care.

Which is part of the reason I think government-run health care should be the goal. I'm just being pessimistic about the prospects.

I have never ever heard a vet say that their health care was good. Pretty much the exact opposite actually.

Sadly, this is true.
