Frontier(s)

There Will Be No Miracles Here

A crippling economic recession, an endless war, a new president, and the mess has only begun. The edges of everyone's lives are much sharper than they used to be. The world is a guarded place. It's only fitting that a band like Frontier(s) exist at such a critical juncture.

Though the outfit is new, the members aren't. As the front man for Elliott, the band in which he spent most of his adult life, Chris Higdon's voice was and remains the magnetic prototype whose variations crop up in emo groups gracing the pages of Alternative Press. Guitarist Matt Wieder cut his teeth in the early '90s hardcore outfit Mouthpiece before relocating to Louisville. Drummer Eagle Barber is also an import by way of the Pacific coast's rainy oasis, Seattle. Bassist Bryan Todd, this group's earliest collaborator, calls the River City home.

Hopelessly Midwestern, Louisville never accepted east or west coast definitions of post-anything, and Frontier(s) is no different. Serrating, D.C.-inflected guitars, tightly wound bass, and dime-stop drums are the brick to Higdon's mortar as he switches between airy tones and boot-shaking roar.

Colors: black, white

Arctic Rodeo PO goes up this Friday 7/9:

The release date for the fantastic debut album of FRONTIER(S) is now set: There Will Be No Miracles Here is going to be released on August 20th 2010. We are damn proud having these guys from Louisville, Kentucky on board, because this new band around singer and guitarist Chris Higdon (Elliott, Falling Forward) and guitarist Matt Wieder (Guilt, The Enkindels, Automatic, Mouthpiece) has recorded an awesome album. Friends of the bands mentioned above will probably feel reminded of the 90s (post-) hardcore scene in a positive way, everyone else will experience a timeless, stirring and exciting rock album. There will be a CD version, and furthermore, we will offer a strictly limited vinyl edition. The CD is going to be available in a nice digifile sleeve and will include a booklet, the LP pressing is going to be limited to 300 copies on orange vinyl. Please note: There Will Be No Miracles Here by FRONTIER(S) can be pre-ordered at our online store from July 9th. The album is going to be available the same day as our next album release Twelve Mondays by ARI HEST, which is going to be released on July 30th. Thanks a lot for being interested!
