fixedfrequencies
Political/sociological documentaries are what I have to offer: Dirty Wars Will The Real Terrorist Please Stand Up? If A Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front Kingdom of Survival Class Dismissed: How TV Frames The Working Class The Codes of Gender: Identity and Performance in Pop Culture: PsyWar: http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/psywar/ American Autumn: An OccuDoc (I love that Fugazi contributed music to this) The first three are on Netflix, Kingdom plays often on Free Speech TV, the others are definitely worth looking into, they should be available to stream somewhere online
jtcohenour
I haven't! I definitely want to, Herzog is his own genre he's so good (Aguirre, the Wrath of God is one of my favorite movies) And Why We Fight is incredible. I forgot a really really important one on my list (somehow). The Fog of War by Errol Morris is some next level shit. If you like Why We Fight, and haven't seen it I really highly recommend it! Thanks for the recommendation. I'll throw it on the list of stuff to watch.
anthemforadoomed
I'm surprised 'A Band called Death' isn't getting more love. It's a fantastic story. Also, Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone and Hated: GG Allin and the Murder Junkies. A Band Called Death is definitely on my to watch list! Thanks for the recommendation. I'll throw it on the list of stuff to watch. Awesome! Let me know what you think! =D

jerseydave77
A mid-90s doc popped in my head. It is pretty incredible: Waco: Rules of Engagement It will upend everything you know about Waco. Also: Jonestown The one made a few years back with newly found footage is incredible. A must watch. Pretty sure I left off: The Times of Harvey Milk One of the films that locked me into the path of becoming a filmmaker. Anyway, the film I produced got an awesome write-up in the NY Times, was held over another week in NYC and will be premiering in LA and SF on Friday. If you have a chance to get out to see it let me know. laralaurent
I stumbled upon the health docs side of netflix tonight and watched Vegucated and Forks Over Knives. Really felt terrible eating chicken nuggets while watching these. Ugh.

laralaurent
Haven't seen Vegucated yet! Really want to Vegucated was really good but I think Forks Over Knives is its more comprehensive, more convincing companion piece. Hard not to want to change your diet after watching these though! It's a documentary on what happened in the city of Philadelphia with the MOVE organization. It's pretty insane, and worth checking out. here is backstory on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOVE and the website for the documentary: http://www.letthefireburn.com/
