atticus
I use a 1.3, its really something for the price. What cartridge did it come with? I didn't upgrade so I'm guessing the Sumiko Pearl Cart that seems to be the standard on 1.3s these days.. is that what came with yours? if so how is it? I've never used Sumiko before.. atticus
@ajxd or @esbe don't know if you saw my question earlier, but did yours come with the Pearl cart? and if so what did you think of it? should i look at a further upgrade or can I be happy with this deck/preamp/cart combo till my bank account recovers from the shock? ajxd
Mine came with the Pearl. Some come 2M Red. Originally came with OMe5... The Pearl is a very versatile cartridge. I liked it. Rated one of the best $100 carts out there (now $125!). Swapped to a 2M Blue because the Pearl got destroyed in a move.

I demoed a Blue on a Music Hall MMF 5.1 and it was really nice very warm.. but.. it was also on an MMF 5.1 through a Bellari tube pre so... ajxd
I prefer the Blue. I felt the Pearl didn't hold the bass levels as well as the Blue does. Vocals are a cleaner, less harsh. Not saying the Pearl is harsh... but there was a difference between the highs and low on each cart.
esbe
My 1.3 came with a 2M Red. I've got no complaints, but it is the only cart I've used with the table, so I can't help much with recommendations.
JumpingBean
Just scored a pair of Boston Acoustics a150s from an estate sale for 30 bucks. The Woofers need to be refoamed, but other than that they look well taken care of.

xxmartinxx
I just ordered a Parasound ZPhono-USB from Audio Advisor. I'm in the market for a phono pre and I was going to buy a Musical Fidelity V-LPSII, until I found a review that said that this was better (even with the upgraded power supply). It just so happens that AA is clearing them out at $249, which is only $50 more than the V-LPSII.
ajxd
Parasound's phono channels are great. Love mine in the 2100.
