anchorlessbodies
Hubardo is an approximately 90-minute conceptual epic double-album, with story and lyrics written by longtime lyricist and former MAUDLIN OF THE WELL vocalist, Jason Byron. Musically, the album covers the spectrum of all of the band's works, from the sparse doomy elements of Choirs of The Eye, to the blast-beat, woodwind-driven Gamma Knife, the chorus-bass goth fusion of Coyote, and even lush orchestrated prog moments harkening back to the days of their previous band, MAUDLIN OF THE WELL, and, as with all the band's releases, Driver and Co. venturing into new territory. andi
I'm a huge fan of KD, but this ... really? I'll definitly pick up the standard version. No hurry though.
codeine
Um I think they're using the preorders to fund the pressing of the album, the idea is basically like a kickstarter, only direct through the band because when you do kickstarter both kickstarter and amazon take a cut out of the funds raised. dobski
Anyone who is familliar with Toby Driver's past material is cheating themselves if they don't jump on this. If it turns out anything like how they've made it out to be in the description, it's AOTY material. Especially looking forward to the proggy "Part the Second" esqe disc. codeine
andi
Fucking shipping costs. I wanted to go for the standard black version. But 35 $ to ship a 32 $ record (to germany) ... this is ridiculous! I have to wait till / if a distro here will get this.
almightyseancore
this should be good. i've been listening to a lot of maudlin lately.
codeine
'Avant-black metal Bitches Brew' Get on it people, they're going into the studio really soon. The pre-orders are being put towards funding everything.$67 to ship 200g 3xLPs from USA to Europe sounds like par for the course to me, especially when you consider that you're pitching in on the album being made, in addition to buying the finished product, having it delivered to your doorstep. The standard edition to Canada cost me $57, shipping included ... only $10 more to go to Europe, that's peanuts, I don't understand how people expect international shipping to be any cheaper than it is, get used to it.The deluxe edition to Canada cost me $82, shipping included (yeah that's right, I bought both) likely the best purchases I'll make all year. Can't stress the importance of being an early adopter enough, it's basically a kickstarter, minus kickstarter/amazon taking their cut. If you value real art, shell out the cash, no excuses.

codeine
http://www.kayodot.net/ says on their site they still need to sell 200 more preorder copies in order to move production of the vinyl along. They're aiming for a fall release to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Choirs of the Eye.

codeine
There goes my hope for a Choirs of the Eye vinyl in the near future ... 10th anniversary would be appropriate enough timing for it but yeah, it probably won't happen, ever. Tzadik won't license it, and I doubt they'll ever come around to pressing it themselves.
