daniel
I recently read on this forum that some members store their records outside of the packaging but within the plastic sleeve for easy access and protection of the jacket. For double LP's is it ok to do so with the two records against one another?
skumbucket
if LPs touch each other then they're an abomination and they'll be condemned to hell. they also aren't alllowed to get married.
daniel
But they're using protection!

jhulud
If it's a 2xLP, I'd put one record in the front of the jacket, and the other on the opposite side. All within the plastic sleeve of course.

kurtz
I don't think it's a big deal. I have several 2xLPs that are not gatefold, so they are touching (with the sleeves on of course). I don't do the outside the jacket thing though.
daniel
I guess if I left the paper sleeves on them they would be fine. I hadn't thought of that...
borf
I keep all mine inside the sleeves and jackets, even the doubles - the packaging for some will settle and wrinkle oddly if you take the records out and store it empty forever. also leaving a record in front of the jacket in a plastic outer sleeve will induce ring wear on teh cover
gravitylovesdrunks
what's all this about people not keeping records inside jackets?
daniel
I ended up just turning the sleeves sideways so that the records can slide right out of the sleeve and plastic. They're resealable though, so nothing's gonna fall out.

reginaldbuxley
And now for something completely serious. I've always debated the validity of the "record in the plastic sleeve, outside the jacket" theory. But I do it anyway ;-D
