sacredheart
I don't think any fans thought the genre was dead. There are numerous great bands still. Will check this out when I get home though. lexicondevil, nivek87 and agaetisbyrjun

heresyourletter
Excited to check this out You guys have any good recommendations for similar bands?
lexicondevil
Not bad. Definitely interested in hearing this stuff without people babbling in the background. People who won't shut up at shows suck.

Dusted_By_Space
i dont have a link as im at work, but i saw something yesterday on Drag The River's page where Jon was talking about how he hated the trem alt. country. I myself have never given much thought to the whole genre thing, if i hear it and like it i buy it. The article though was a good read, Also, i agree with everyone here so far, im digging this. sacredheart
Excited to check this out You guys have any good recommendations for similar bands? The one song I have heard so far from them reminds me of Ryan Bingham's Mescalito album. The slower songs from Turnpike Troubadours have a similar feel too, but they also like to rock out. Both well worth checking out.

gutzonborglum
If you don't already know it check out Dead Man Winter (which is Dave Simonett's side alt-country project from his primary band Trampled By Turtles)... This. A lot.

ChrisWithanF
If you dont mind female vocalists, you should check out honeyhoney. I guess they would be considered alt country (im terrible with genres) plus they have an album for sale on their website if you like it/want to support them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FMknvj5CgU

jtcohenour
I'm not really sure if this qualifies as alt country but I really like Jason Isbell's album that dropped this last summer. Damn that dude has an amazing voice.
Dusted_By_Space
I personally feel that isbell is one of the most under rated artists out there. And has anybody got into john moreland? I grabbed the split he did with austin lucas for the wax pack set and was blown away by his track. His lp is the next thing on my to grab list. Every single album he puts out is amazing. And thanks to Wax Packs I've been seeing his name pop up more and more recently. Definitely worth a listen to anyone who is checking out this thread. sacredheart
Southeastern was my album of the year as well. Saw him live for the tour as well and he and the band were phenomenal. Plus I finally got to hear Decoration Day live! jtcohenour
blugel
Really can't wait for this to go up tomorrow. Hoping the CD ships out pretty quickly (with the vinyl to follow, of course)...
sacredheart
Enjoyed it, just wish they didnt have live versions with the crowd chatter up. Is John a permanent member of the band or just did guest pedal steel?
nickwantspizza
Not sure if this fits entirely into the alt-country discussion, but the main riff is very "Wilco" so I think it does. Their debut album is very 60s era rock inspired but there's a big Americana/Alt-Country vibe throughout. WereAllDudesHey
To me this just sounds like "country". The shit played on country radio these days is not country music. This is country music and it's fantastic. Now pardon me while I spin some of my Randy Travis.
