RecruitingGuy
Hey all, bumping this as I'm BRAND new to the forum and seeking out a small cabinet / shelf system for my turntable. I like the Expedit / Kallas from Ikea but I don't really want a 1 x 4 (just fear it's not going to be sturdy enough since I only have enough width in my music room to stand it vertically). A 1x2 is probably ideal, but it looks like Wal-Mart has this shelf in a 1 x 3. Anyone else get this since this was posted last year? How is it? Sturdy? Somewhat heavy duty? Any issues with TT vibration?
HybridxReality
I'm also curious as I want to pick one up as well. Don't know which one it was, but I'm now running out of room without one of these Expedit-type shelves, so I finally need to make the jump. abovetheearth
I bought one. It kicks ass. I'll post a pic in a sec.

HybridxReality
I'm wondering if I should pick up two 2x2s, instead of getting the 2x4 (I hope I'm saying these right. I mean the square one that has four individual squares inside and the big rectangle one that's just two of those square ones together.). I'm mainly thinking this because it would probably be easier to move the 2x2s around if I need to, compared to the big 2x4. I think I'm just making this far too complicated for me, but it's bugging me lol.
abovetheearth
The fit is incredible. Put together, alone, was 15 minutes max. Very sturdy.
HybridxReality
Wow, I really like the look of them. I'm definitely getting these.
abovetheearth
It is very very light weight.
abovetheearth
Keep in mind it's very low. Standing, this hits right at knee or below. But I like sitting or laying when selecting tunes.
HybridxReality
Sweet, in that case I'm just going for the bigger one. Only about $70 with free shipping, so that's super awesome.
Santa Bateman
Theyre good. Been 6 months
RecruitingGuy
How sturdy is it if you stand it upright? I have a narrow corner I have my turntable in, so I'd have to stand it vertically. I'm concerned it wouldn't be too sturdy. Otherwise this looks like the ticket!
Santa Bateman
Not sure. I have it set up the way it is in the pic. Its pretty sturdy atm. For the price and quality its a good deal.
SBarry
I've had mine for about 2 years and can say it is definitely sturdy and looks nice.
agua
Speaking of Wal-mart, who's ordered records off the site?
diabretic
I have the 2X4 and it's almost identical to the Expedit. It's very sturdy and I will buy another when/if the time comes.
fuckinandsuckinandtouchin
I bought this from Target around August/September.. http://m.target.com/p/threshold-6-cube-horizontal-organizer-avington/-/A-14161912 It's nice with plenty of room for records, but it's starting to sag especially on both middle cubes. It's great yet terrifying at the same time!
Koolhandnick
I might jump on this, currently using vintage peach crates and I'm thinking the slats don't support the weight very well. Thanks for posting this.
HybridxReality
I keep forgetting to pick this up, ugh. Need to finally commit.
abovetheearth
Don't second guess this piece. It's nice. And for the price, it's a steal.
Tardcore
I prefer the Costco version. it sells for $100 pretty routinely, is way beefier than the Expedits I looked at, and comes with 8x canvas baskets which I found useful.
RecruitingGuy
Question for those who have this: does it come with mounting hardware? Would like to try and mount it as a way of lessening vibration (and obviously to keep from tipping as I need to have it straight up and down given my space constraints.) abovetheearth
interesting. mine did not.
gabe005
Does anyone have one of these Wal-Mart versions next to an Ikea version? I have a few Ikea Expedits but need to expand and was hoping these would be same size/look side by side.
