I had a really awkward experience buying a piece at an art gallery once. The artist happened to be there and offered to sign it, but the piece was already signed. She was like "I can sign it again!"
If the piece was unsigned I would have been like "Awesome! Sign away!" But I don't let my cats draw on my art twice, so why should I let her?

No it's not okay for any label, big or small, to price gouge listeners. That's setting a horrible precedent for the industry. By your theory, every label should charge triple figures retail for each limited, in demand release. And you're okay with that because some dipshit might later make $80 on eBay or Discogs? All due respect, but that's a ridiculous train of thought. Any label charging secondary market prices for their retail product should be ashamed of themselves. Respectable labels work tirelessly to get copies of their band's record into as many collections as possible. They don't charge listeners 5x what they originally did because they are the only outlet with stock left.

He had them up for $18.99 when people started discovering Stranger Things and I missed out. I was able to get one for $35 from him. I don't blame him at all for raising the price. I'd be willing to bet that a lot of people selling them for more, bought them from him for cheap. Why should he sell them for way below what the going rate is, so everyone else can sell them for more? Not a dick at all. He put his ass on the line by releasing this and they just sat around. He got lucky that the show brought the fans. Maybe you should have bought one when no one cared. I wish I did.

Today is the 7th anniversary of my mom passing away from lung cancer. I made the three hour drive this morning and visited her grave for the first time. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, and this album has helped me feel a little better on the ride home. I am so thankful for this album.

Thanks dude. I think I can speak for a lot of us and say that we are in a debt of gratitude for all the inside info you've given us. It has been most helpful.

Yeah. VNYL would be fun if you're a kid or you don't know much about music or records and you and your friends all do it and check in with each other to see what you get. It's like a sampler to a bigger world for curious people. What makes it seriously annoying is that it was born from a soulless tech startup trend generator machine with no taste or passion or vision other than "let's make the website look cool and post pictures of young people having fun". When called out or when they couldn't deliver what they promised, they just amped up the slickness and shine and moved away from serious music collectors to buying advertorials in web magazines and marketing to high school and college kids on Facebook. Don't fix your model or become a better company...just move on to a demo that is less knowledgable and discerning.

The only way I can think about this service is from the perspective of a person who really knows nothing about music and wants to get into it. In the same way that, say I wanted to get into comics and had no clue where to start. Send me some new comics based on my vibe #gohulkyourself. Then, at that point I still would have no clue what I'm getting and everything would be new to me. But to be a comic aficionado and sign up for a service like that would make zero sense. The fact that these people are in tears over a record they got is what really throws a wrench into all of this for me.
