  1. No matter how well lp's are packed, they'll always arrive a bit dinged up with the cornes, seams and such once I get them all the way to Denmark from the US. It's unavoidable with the way packages are handled, stacked and thrown around by the carriers. Of course it sucks if a package arrives completely mangled, but if I was to worry about random dings and splits to the sleeves, it would be a fulltime job.

  3. Over the last week or so I've really come to love this album - and it's very easy to get others hooked on as well. Most are won over within the first minute of the title track. My current favorite must be 'The World up there'. Epic closer.
  4. Funny. My 'Stranger than Fiction' is on white vinyl. Dragnet 1994, German press I think. The only version you could get in Europe when the album was released, as far as I can remember.
  5. Just got an email with a link for the Bandcamp download. Still no shipping confirmation on the splatter ordered through there. Anyone else still waiting?
  6. Yellow copy arrived today. Looking good. Those new songs on the d-side are pretty great.
  7. Super quick brainstorm with one album maximum per artist says: Misfits - Walk Among Us Lifetime - Jerseys Best Dancers Helmet - Meantime Ministry - Psalm 69 Bad Religion - Stranger Than Fiction SNFU - ...And No One Else Wanted to Play Discordance Axis - The Inalienable Dreamless Iron Monkey - Our Problem Kerbdog - s/t MDC - Millions of Dead Cops ...but that barely scratches the surface of all the albums that mean the world to me. Maybe a top 100 would do the trick.
  8. Not acquiring any new records shouldn't detract from the pleasure of listening to those you've already got.
  9. For sure, but the idea is much better carried out now.
  10. They totally nailed it with the artwork & design. Melodic death metal usually annoys the hell out of me, but as always Carcass are in a league of their own, and I've been spinning this nonstop since getting it last week.
  11. Why? The swastika symbol does not necessarily need to have a connection to Nazism. As you may already know the symbol itself is ancient and predates that stuff by ages and has been common in a wide variety of cultures.
  12. Cool looking with the clear purple & black smoke thing going on, but really hard to capture and give it justice.
  13. Got mine today - slightly bent, but nothing that can't be flattened. Plays fine on my turntable. There's a tendency to single-sided lp's being warped during manufacturing, unless you put an empty groove on the other side to even it out when they're pressed. That's why some pressing plants can't or won't do them. Maybe the screen printing process also adds to the warp factor? I don't recall having any vinyl made like this (single sided + screened) that are totally flat. But that aside, great tunes as usual with Self Defense Family!
  14. I agree. They are quite amazing with their attention to finer details.
  15. Thank you. This is a much appreciated way for me to avoid local customs & tax fees.
  16. Bought one from Southern Lord when they put it up. There were lots of people getting damages boxes in the mail, but mine turned up just fine. The Ulver collaboration that was exclusive to this release is very cool.
  17. Have you tried the 'Oracle' ep? Two tracks with Attila Csihar doing vocals (and an additional third track on the limited double cd version). It's quite good.
  18. I've got the 180g. black vinyl version of the original 'Black One' pressing, and there's most definitely a lot of hissing and pops from the surface that detract from the listening experience. Sonically it still packs more punch than the cd-version.
  19. The only reason for slapping a label over the engraving on the clear version has to be so that you don't see the backside of the one on the c-side.
  20. The total price, including postage, of getting the box set to Denmark is just about the same whether I order from Clearview or Unless You Try. UK postage has become quite expensive. The real incentive for me to get one from UYT is that goods shipped within the EU don't get slammed with any kind of customs fees and taxes, and that's very welcome.
  21. That engraved d-sided turned out pretty damn cool. Hard to take a picture that does it justice, but this should give an idea of it.
  22. It's the usual Organized Crime Records stamp for when they do that on innersleeves - I see no reason how it could be more correct then their numbering.
  23. Mint/kelly green mix version looks exactly like that light & darker green press of Killing the Dream - 'Lucky me'. Very awesome design & package. I'd say the album has no trouble holding up to the old records.
