Wu-Tang to Release Only One Copy of Double LP
hezagenius replied to jerseypride's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Well now we know who bought it. That shitbird Martin Shkreli paid $2MM for it. You may remember him as the assclown who raised the price of a drug that helps cancer patients stay alive from $13.50 to $750 a pill. Probably going to play it on a Crosley... -

Do all TRL vinyl releases come with Bandcamp downloads now? Or are they still just generic mp3 downloads? -

Any more info on what is up with those amended tracks on Bustle? Did they have to be edited to fit onto the LP? -
When I saw that poll, I thought one of two things was happening: a) the results are telling us who the clientele is of Lifehacker or the results are telling us who Lifehacker thinks its clientele is If the poll title was "Best turntable as voted on by neckbeard hipsters who at least had the common sense to not buy a Crosley", then I would say it's a legit poll. You don't have to break the bank to get a good TT. Great deals on amazing ones can be had if you are patient.

The OCEAN Fluxion & Aeolian Repress!
hezagenius replied to a topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Man alive! Just got mine yesterday after ordering back in March. I completely forgot about them until they emailed me a few weeks back. The clear Fluxion was out so they sent me either a silver or a black. I haven't opened them yet to see which one. I think I still got the gold Aeolian but who knows. Massive seam splits on each one. -

What record sleeves do you use?
hezagenius replied to mattcalamia's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I'm talking dust/dirt/grit, not contaminating stuff like mold and mildew. Yeah, I wash my hands when I touch my records. If you spend time cleaning it, why touch them with your dirty hands? -

Polyethylene sleeves > polypropylene sleeves >>> paper sleeves That's how I see it. Paper sleeves will shed little pieces onto the record and will get worse over time. Poly sleeves won't shed. -

Yes, I throw it away after I clean the LP. Wasteful, yes, but it sometimes takes me a while to get around to cleaning an LP and I may be out of town when I buy it so at least I know the LP isn't sitting in a sandpaper sleeve during a car or plane ride. The longer it sits in a paper sleeve, the more stuff there is to clean off and the more likely small abrasions to the surface can occur. I've been known to use saran wrap as well if I don't have poly sleeves. I'm pretty OCD about record cleaning. -

Disk Keeper 2.0 are solid for the price. The Ultimate Audiophile Disk Keepers are better but at a much higher price per unit. The Ultimates just have a silky smooth feel to them. I think they are the same material as the 2.0 that touches the vinyl but for some reason, the Ultimates feel softer. I keep Disk Keeper 2.0 in my car because when I find a really nice record in a store and it is stored in some crappy paper sleeve, I like to transfer it to the Disk Keeper until I can clean it. Pulling a primo record out of a paper sleeve that sounds like sandpaper is such a harsh experience. I store my inner sleeves on the outside of the jacket and put both inside the outer sleeve. That way I can take out the inner sleeve without messing with the jacket. I only keep the original inners if there is something printed on them related to the record. If they are generic, they are trashed. I get all my inners at Sleeve City. I do Bags Unlimited for jacket sleeves. -
Why does Relapse always have a clear pressing of 100 copies that you can't buy? Do they sell those at shows or online somewhere else with inflated pricing?

Hell yes on Nightsatan. Their first album, Midnight Laser Warrior, is amazing. Some really great John Carpenter-esque stuff on that one. Their 2nd LP is not as good, IMHO, but still solid. Here's a fan-made video for one of the songs of the 1st LP. I don't know the movie but it fits well with the music. Looks like an 80's post-apocalyptic movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWkUlQQPbFA Death to false laser metal!

Protector 101 is also putting out solid music in the same style as Perturbator and Lazerhawk. This genre has been exploding the last few years. There is someone named neros77 on youtube that makes videos for these artists and they are pretty rad. He/she uses clips from 80's movies and anime films that really mesh well with the music.

Yeah, Lazerhawk's Redline album is fucking legit!

Damn, there's some cool ass shit on there. That $2000 for an afternoon digging for records with "The One and Only Maseo Plug 3rd" would be badass. I may have to spring for something on here. De La is easily one of the best hip hop groups of all time.

First press or more limited reissue?
hezagenius replied to Emi89's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
To the original poster: It depends if you are interested in the record for sonics or collectability. If you want the best sounding record, generally the rule of thumb is to get a 1st pressing. Some exceptions to this could be when a audiophile label recuts a record using better equipment and techniques, etc. But just because a label claims to be an audiophile label doesn't mean it's true. For investment purposes, generally the more rare the pressing, the more valuable. But if you are expecting to make a ton of money buying variants, you will probably end up being disappointed. -
Jay 'Z' launches "Tidal" HIFI streaming service
hezagenius replied to wbhendrix's topic in Everything Else Message Board
I'll take Bandcamp over Tidal. Better music probably, and I can stream for free and pay to download FLAC/buy vinyl if I want to own the lossless version.
