Listened to Guts today and feeling pretty meh about it. Maybe because Sour felt like something new, this new one comes across as more formulaic & derivative. It sounds like it’s trying to mine & ape 2000’s emo & alternative, especially Weezer. I mean, shit, the album’s opening track, echoes & sounds like a rip of “My Name is Jonas”. I don’t hate the record…but don’t love it either. It’s a listen a few times and then move on kinda record.
