thats it, not like im spending mass amounts, probably will pick it up after reading some more into it, seems like a pretty solid buy in that range will post back when purchased re the Phono stage, might have to track down a good external phono to try out and see if i can notice any great difference

does anyone here run the PM6004 without an external Phono? if so, whats the phono like. I've only spoken to a couple of people re this model....would be good to hear from someone who actually runs it

There isnt a NEED but apparently you will have a vasrlt improvement in sound quality with a better extenal phono

I dont mind shelling out a bit of cash for each component. I saw the price on the Marantz and thought if I can stick to that kind of price I would be happy....and It wouldnt break the bank too much.......I could also keep it quiet re girlfriend Might try pick up the Marantz cheaper and spend a bit more (200-400) on an external phono, that would complete my whole basic set up and would do me until such time as I start upgrading bit by bit again when I have a little more knowledge about everything

Hadnt even thought about tubes.......had done some quick research and everything led back to the Marantz....just didnt want to pull the trigger before checking here and picking up some furthur ideas. I have also been advised that the inbuilt phono on the Marantz isnt the greatest an ill more than likely require an external phono stage......which is another topic all together I suppose

Hey VC Found a Marantz PM6004 for $590.00aud New, which seems to be a pretty good price down here inn Kangaroo land for that model. Usually Retails for $700-800aud Just wondering if there are any other Options in that price range that i should be looking at as well, Wanting to buy new, something around $500-800 ish Running a pair of wharfedale 10.1s and a Project Carbon any help would be appreciated

Hopefully they press it on black as well......UNFD are pretty awesome when it comes to Vinyl....have ordered quite a few items from them......bets on that it wont ship on time though Would be cool to see a complete Karnivool release.....from the EP up to the new album

Currently running - - project carbon - wharfedale diamonds 10.1 - the weak link - technics amp hand me down The amp has definitely had a good run.... Its not awful but very much in need of a new amp. Have been looking at and am very keen on the PM6004.... Seems going off the above i would also need to splash out on a good phono pre amp as well (which i have no issue with) Was wondering if there was anything else in the same price range (amp+phono) that i should also have a look at......... Also will the Wharfedale 10.1s be a gpod match to the Marantz 6004 mentioned above
