  1. I've been playing this game more and more. FPS games always gave me motion sickness when I was a young lad, so I never really developed the skill set and ,hence, continued to avoid them when the software improved later on. This game is pretty newb friendly (PC) but I'm still pretty bad. I mostly play Pharah and sometimes switch to Bastion when the situation calls for it.
  2. It's a little interesting that she whispered the baby's name to Ned but we didn't get to hear it. His real first name almost certainly is not 'Jon'. That name is significant to Ned, not Lyanna. But if she gave a last name (Various choices here...Snow, Sand, Blackfyre, Targaryen), that could be telling. maybe they will reveal it later or it might simply be irrelevant to the plot. When shit hits the fan, I don't think anybody is going to care what his last name is. I think Sansa's feelings on King Snow are meant to be ambiguous. Although, given literally all of her comments leading up to the northerners declaring Jon king, I think the less than enthused look exchanged with Littlefinger was more out of concern about what he might do than beef with Jon. Even with the losses, Jon probably has more support now than he had prior to the battle, but Littlefinger still has a lot of men in Winterfell.
  3. I usually leave the shrink on, put the record/s in individual inner sleeves, put all of the original materials (sleeves, stickers, whatever) back into the jacket and then put the whole thing into an outer sleeve with the record/s in their new inner sleeves behind the jacket. I have some records I have had for 15+ years that have some sleeve warping but I think that has more to do with 18 year old me keeping records in a milk crate than the shrink being left on.
  4. AKA mixed/mastered correctly. I will say that based on the bits that I have listened to, the album has a sort of faraway feeling. It feels like I'm standing behind the music.
  5. It's more about how many hours you've actually used it than how many years it's been on the table. I'd check to make sure everything is still aligned properly first, but it could very well be time to replace (or upgrade) the needle.
  6. honestly, I was just glad the Arya in Bravos shit was done. They handled it poorly all around. The next time I see her scrawny bum, it better be on a ship headed West.
  7. you ever stare up at the moon and wonder if that punk band from the 90's is all alone and staring up at that very same moon?
  8. The Brotherhood Without Banners. Lead by Barric Donderrion along with his friend, Thoros of Myr. He was originally tasked by Ned Stark acting as Hand to the King to track down the Mountain who was raiding and pillaging in the Riverlands. After Ned died, Barric continued to unofficially skirmish with the Mountain's raiders (and others) and continued to collect additional men who no longer had lords/families to fight as well. The Hound ran into them previously while trying to ransom Arya to the Tullys in the Riverlands. That's where he had his trial by combat and killed Barric (who was resurrected again by Thoros).
  9. Nice plaintop. I always thought they looked nicer than flametops.
  10. I'd consider some red or orange covers on there. I think they're the same size as strat pickup covers.
  11. if you see something used you're interested in on Ebay, be sure to check Audiogon as well. Many sellers will list on both sites and may make you a better deal through Audiogon as the fees are lower than Ebay.
  12. is there a recommended test disc that I can use to look at some of these things? I checked for a few things that people complain about like edge bleed, but I'm not very familiar with calibrating etc.
  13. UPDATE: I was able to move up my delivery date and got my new TV today. After a little smoke testing, I got it mounted and have been watching for an hour or so. So far I am pretty impressed. Picture is good on streaming and blu ray content. The screen is pretty reflective so I'm getting a bit of glare so I think some black out curtains are in order but that's not a big deal. Now I just need to find some good 4k content.
  14. I just can't believe he's still dead. RIP.
  15. I wouldn't count Blizzard out yet. They know the value of world-building. If the game is successful, I bet that they will get the budget to build on a lot of that stuff in the future.
  16. Turntables that use ceramic cartridges fall into a "crosley" class of inexpensive turntables that may look and (sometimes) sound like a turntable, but lack the features and build quality to play your records consistently and without causing (long or short-term) damage to the record itself. Slinch's link above will lay out several alternative tables that will do the job, but you do not necessarily have to step up to the $200-300 range of turntables. If you take a look at your local Craig's List, you will likely find something for the same $130 you spent on your current table that will yield far better results.
  17. ~$3k seems to be roughly the going rate for a 65" OLED (for those of us without the retail hookups). I technically could have gone with a smaller screen with the higher end tech, but the larger screen size is a big factor driving my upgrade. I'll be in the same HDCP 2.2 boat. My current AVR is a Marantz SR5008. It probably wouldn't cost me much to step up to a newer edition but running a cable isn't a big deal either. I was originally planning to pick up a PS4 whenever the latest Uncharted game came out, but given the announcement that there would be a hardware revision around the holidays, I elected to wait. I mostly play games in the winter (because Wisconsin) so waiting wasn't an issue. There isn't enough content available currently for me to justify shelling out for a new player specifically to get Ultra Blu Ray capabilities, but if it comes packaged with something like the PS4.5 that I was going to pick up anyway, I'm on board. I'll be sure to report back. My delivery date is currently set for this Saturday.
  18. I know they have plans to release one sometime this year. I will be ecstatic if they came out with a follow up to the 103/105 with Ultra HD support, but I feel like those products still have a lot of life in them and I'd more likely be looking at a model above those with a comparable price tag. I'll probably be picking up a PS4.5 whenever it comes out mostly because of the new Uncharted game. It would be nice to get a little extra utility out of it beyond gaming. The PS3 was a utility beast. I think Sony needs to keep that going. They already stumbled a bit with the initial PS4 being slightly underpowered for VR necessitating a revision.
  19. I went ahead and ordered the 65" KS8000. I think I could have gotten the Sony for around the same price ($1900 incl tax + delivery). It's a local return (Best Buy) so we'll see if I notice any of the edge bleed/clouding issues that some people complain about and maybe I'll switch to the Sony. Pretty jealous of the OLED. I really wanted to hold out. But even with all these reports of companies moving into OLED (including Panasonic who have completely punted on their product line since getting out of plasma), I don't see there being good enough competition for prices to drop until at lease mid 2017. For the time being, a solid HDR set seems like a reasonable comprimise. What's the deal with Ultra HD blu ray players? Guessing I need a special playback device....do you know if the PS 4.5 will support it?
  20. Skipping 1080p was fine as most content is 720p anyway. The old plasma is beginning to show its age though. Really wanted to hold out for an OLED, it's a bit hard to justify $3k.
  21. I've been slowly upgrading my AV setup and have gotten to the point where a new TV may be in order. Currently using a ~2008 Panasonic 50" 720p plasma that has served me well for many years. Hoping my next TV will do the same. I have my eye on a Samsung UN65KS8000 that I can pick up for ~$2k. I do not know very much about current TV tech, so I welcome any educated opinions.
  22. it looks like the record he chucks on the floor before taking the bin is a copy of The Replacements - Tim.
  23. I'd look at the start/stop button first. Check for loose connections. Maybe some DeOxit.
  24. They sure are throwing some big names at these Thor movies. I still won't watch it until bluray release. If then.
