the TV mount provides some support. It goes all the way to the floor and has its own feet, so it doesn't apply any weight.
That said, I think I am going to put in a middle support of some kind in the front. I just need to figure out if I am going to put in a shelf for the center channel, which would impact placement.

You shouldn't do it regardless of what platter you have.

If you intend to continue, the acrylic platter shouldn't be worse than stock.

Anyone use LEDs to light up your acrylic platters?

If so, how did you do it?

I'm thinking about modding my Orbit to have a nice light up display.

Essentially, I'm looking for pros/cons of LED tape (strips) vs wiring up my own LED circuit.

Thought some people (particularly apartment dwellers) might be interested in this project.

for a long time, I have been wanting to merge my vinyl and AV setups but needed to figure a way to get my TV off the deck to free up space for my turntable.  Since I live in apartment, wall mounting isn't really an option and I didn't want to invest in another meh quality AV stand with a built in mount.  After way too much hemming and hawing, I finally went forward and made this stand.

This monstrosity is made out of 2 pieces of solid oak bench top (around 1.5" x 24" X 60"), some 1" steel pipe/fittings and an out of the box Sanus FMS01 add-on mount bolted into the bench tops.  It's rock solid and pretty fool proof to build.

It's not quite finished.  I think I am going to add an undermount shelf the center channel speaker and my bluray player.   Then I need to sand/finish the whole thing.

All in all, I am pretty pleased with the result.  if I could change anything I would make the whole thing about a foot shorter and around 4" shallower but 24" x 60" was the only stock size available and I am not set up to do any custom cutting.

Simply put they are both inferior, but which is the lesser evil?

I am trying to decide whether to purchase an atlp120 which I can buy now, to replace a crosley, which I dread even using at all. Or should I try and continue saving for a pro-ject debut carbon dc. I know the answer is kind of obvious but the time that I wait to save up for the project I would be left with the crosley and I'm afraid I am damaging my records with it.

When I finally get a turntable that is worth playing my tiny collection does anyone know if a technics sa120 is worth keeping and using for the time being, I know there are better options and the speakers are obviously an issue, but is this a decent starter? It does have a phono input which is a plus to avoid the necessity of buying a preamp.

    Hi everyone

I discovered this little gem earlier. Could be a good tool to practice on the go, don't you think?

All of your posts seem to be strangely vague or open to interpretation.  They're all a quarter-thought away from making sense.

I'm not sure whether you are a real person trying to convey an idea, or if you are some sort of bot stringing together associated words into sentence form.

dude seems to put up one of these "Anybody have this very specific random model thing?" posts a couple times a year.   pretty useless/harmless.

My personal theory is that his profile picture is what really generates the hate.  Not sure what it is about that picture, but whenever I see it my blood pressure spikes.
