While I have trouble putting it in my top three just yet, I think it has potential. There is a great deal of replayability with it and I am more immediately blown away by this record than I have by most of their previous releases. I definitely don't understand any initial resistance to Ohms.

I recently upgraded my ass phone and I've noticed a significant drop in ruined bits.

I like how the mock art on their site is just the black vinyl haha might be better off not even having that image on there

After some brief mulling, I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on that gold. I like how it complements the sunrise of the artwork.

I mean, it is a clay variant, after all Kinda thinking picking up an indie exclusive clear at my local record store might be the way to go with this. Almost finished with my first listen of this record and I'm such a fan.

Regaining single status during a quarantine significantly opened my budget up, so for now I'm back in the game Logged in now and looks like my account had been frozen cos it needed a new password, probably why I haven't scrobbled anything in over a year. Might be time to remedy that

My standard was delivered from Amazon today. For anyone who hasn't ordered a copy yet and is considering it, the Amazon copy is the 2xLP on transparent magenta. I'm actually pretty stoked that both are magenta, since RTJ3 is 2xLP on gold, I like the consistency. There is an indie variant for those who would prefer that, a small blob of magenta inside clear. I just preferred to not leave my house, tbh.

Finally available to purchase on Amazon. I don’t think they’re making any black copies of this, so I would assume it’s probably the magenta/gold copy that RTJ posted an image of on social media today.

Damn, I saw this thread get bumped and got my hopes up for another pressing of Vol 4.

A little translucent, yep, and it's actually got a metallic sparkle to it, which I don't find is always the case with gold records, so that had me pretty excited. But, yeah, it plays perfectly, no skips or pops. The bass in the intro track was intense, scared the crap out of my dog when it kicked in...I might have had the volume a little high, but it's Sumac.

Only have one complete listen thus far, but right away I can say this isn't as straight-up aggressive as their previous releases, especially early in the record. There are moments of chaos that seem to be emphasized by the longer passages of dulled vocals and eerie guitar work, but it doesn't bust out of the gate like The Task, Image of Control (I), or Thorn in the Lion's Paw. It will take some time to digest, as per usual with Sumac. But I will be interested to hear other people's thoughts when they get their copies. On a different note, I kinda wish Thrill Jockey would have made this a gatefold and charged a little more if necessary, tbh. The inner cardboard sleeve arrived with the glue already worn away, so I will need to repair that at some point. And the outer cardboard sleeve is just big enough that it makes it tricky putting it in a poly sleeve. But the records themselves look and sound fantastic. Lastly, if anyone is worried about their copy taking too long to arrive and would like my download code, lemme know.

Also got my gold, spinning it now and it sounds fantastic. Looking forward to repeated listens of this record, for sure.

Right, I guess I meant it just sounds like they might be going back to the original mindset of music that came along with hanging out with each other, rather than having the same sound as those records.

Yeah, there are just too many modifiers that all seem to mean the same thing at first glance on there right now.

"All first press Relapse.com LPs come with a limited edition-exclusive 20 page LP sized booklet not included in the standard LPs. Super-limited, special edition versions come in a custom designed, re-sealable mylar polybag." Yeah, looks like you get a booklet from ordering on Relapse. And the /100s and /200s are like $3 more because they come with the polybag.
