New Song

Last August we sold our house.  Built a new house, finished it in October.  Then decided to finish the basement myself.  Been without records and audio for 10 months.  About 3 weeks ago I finished the basement enough to start moving stuff in.  It's a work in progress with still more stuff yet to come from the framers.

I wish, although I did score a sealed OG copy of EndSerenading last year for about $18 from a guy in Alaska. Looked like (really old) deadstock, but I managed to get it for cost when you factor in almost 20 years of inflation.
I've been getting a lot of good luck finding Up releases recently. Even found some old Up stickers from a used Built to Spill 7" which was pretty neat.

So far I've only listened to the Star Roving and Sugar for the Pill and am seriously excited to listen to this album, but may hold off until my local record store gets a copy to buy and enjoy thru at home. I'm loving people's excitement of this album.

Tracking is coming if you haven't gotten it. We still have some orders to get through. You may also want to check your paypal account to see if it's already in there. They don't always send emails like they're supposed to. We had a pretty dramatic uptick in orders from last year. Should be through everything by Friday.  Thank you for your patience.  On a lighter note we're getting more Distillers and Space Jam soundtracks so don't spend too much money on ebay or discogs for those things. We were able to snag the very last of the stock from WEA and they should be here shortly. I'll post again when they come in.

I try it once every few months just to see if it's better than I recall, or to see if it'll clock like other albums have mysteriously done at random, as time goes on.  I'm still getting nothing over here.  I don't think it's inherently bad music, nor am I weighing it against its hype.  It just doesn't ever reach a moment that leaves a lasting impression on my end.  I know I'm in a minority but it's whatever.  Not a record I'm forcing myself to like, but also not so terrible that I need to delete it off my HD.  Somewhere firm between the two.

I was able to get an order through for SDRE on Bullmoose. I have an original press, but I am a sucker for all things SDRE AND all things clear vinyl.

Just pulled the trigger on SDRE Rising Tide from 1-2-3-4 Go Records. $61.61 shipped to Canada... Apparently it would have been $48 at the local record store if it would have come in, so I guess I can justify that. And at least I have it secured.

Well, Deafheaven – specifically Nick Steinhardt – created a custom font that's essentially a reduced version of Didot:
 

 
Whoever did the font on that Rita album just opted to not reduce it as much, but still went through the effort to deviate it at a more minimal angle, and stack them in a 3x3 grid.  As best they could, anyway.  I kind of get the point you're trying to make, but it's also like saying that Pink Floyd don't own the rights to triangular prisms or light refraction.

They pictures are still a little blurry for some reason but whatever...
 
I am thrilled with my new media console.  It was built by a guy named Adam (www.karmadeefa.com).  If you live in TN and need a record shelf or any custom furniture you should 100% hit him up.  I also posted a few other angles of my living (record) room as well as my main storage unit

I feel ya Armadillo. I remember a few RSDs back dropping 110 on 3 records, which is ridiculous. This year I'll be on search solely for Rising Tide and maybe Space Jam soundtrack, if it's around. Amazon has been my best friend for purchases online. 3.50 shipping international? C'mon now!

Thanks! It's a shit time to be a Canadian collector, that's for sure: Lousy dollar and steep import charges, especially from the States. Don't know about you but if I order online I now look at Euro and UK sellers before US ones due to shipping alone.
 
Between this and the 2.5LP Bowie live album I'm already probably looking at around 110 CAD after tax. Ughhhhhhh...
