  1. I use a KAB EV-1, a more reasonably priced version using the same general design of a Nitty Gritty cleaner. If you want to be sure your getting your records nice and clean, I'd recommend dropping a little more coin on a better cleaning system. The EV-1 was the best $170 I ever spent. A properly cleaned record is a happy record.
  2. I don't even see the fit with Stone Temple Pilots, but Alice in Chains would be even worse. I don't like it when bands lose the original lead singer and replace them with someone else and keep the same band name. Let's face it, most of the time the lead singer, in this case Scott Weiland and Layne Staley, adds a sort of irreplaceable element to a band. Once it's lost, you're really just starting up a new band. Change the name and for the love of god, don't try and make the new guy sound like his predecessor. That's just me though.
  3. You did, read up in the thread. A UK online store said in the details that the first 5,000 were on the limited purple color. As cool as the purple looks, if there are none available for a reasonable price and there's black copies when I'm in a position to buy, I won't be heartbroken. Mad Season Above is just as "PJ-related" as TOTD is and it's still easily accessible today, months after the RSD release date.
  4. That begs the question of what is considered to be "limited"? /5000 of anything always seems to be widely available after the release date.
  5. I was kinda thinking the same thing. I honestly don't even care about having the colored one. I'm fine with a black record. I need to remind myself to chill out, because 9/10 times, I freak out over nothing. All the talk about limited quantities makes me think if I don't jump on top of it immediately, I'll run the risk of missing out completely. And that's what they want us to think...
  6. acousticsounds also has the PO up now. http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/94726/Temple_Of_The_Dog-Temple_Of_The_Dog-180_Gram_Vinyl_Record
  7. hahahaha. they post it and it's immediately in backordered status? what a joke. i hope dude that just said he heard /5000 is right, but based on the "extremely limited" description, i doubt it. why the fuck would a release in as much demand as this one only be produced in extremely limited quantities? EDIT: just chatted with SSD, the site is still doing the update. backordered should disappear in the next hour or 2 and we'll be able to PO.
  8. Amen on the Alchemy Index... My collection will never be complete without it. Epic fucking album.
  9. I hadn't heard that. In that case, sounds like it's been put on a back burner.
  10. It was probably miscommunication. I'll bet it's reserved for 2014 real-actual RSD.
  11. I'm probably just going to have to pray that there are some still available after the release date. I don't have the funds to put up a $40+ PO (depending on when the actual release date is). I'm seeing 10/28, 11/4, first week of December, etc. I'm inclined to think the beginning of December is more realistic, especially if the news of the reissue was just made public in the past 24 hours. Caught me with my pants down!
  12. Don't got the scratch for even this really good deal. Already dropped all my vinyl spending money this week. I'm just going to hope it's still reasonably priced around Christmas time. I don't recall anyone giving any kind of an in-depth review of the sound quality of this box. If any of the discs have issues similar to MCIS reissue disc 1 IGD, I may even pass on it all together.
  13. I'm just surprised that the news of this eluded me until this morning. How long has this news been public?
  14. fantastic news. I've been waiting for this to happen. Thought it would be part of RSD 2014 (and it may still be).
  15. Hmmm, if it shares a lot with Adore, I'd probably dig it. I think it's only like 3 or 4 bucks. I'll probably snag it the next time I go to the record store. Thanks for the feedback.
  16. There's a used copy of Future Embrace on cd for cheap at my local store that I've been tempted a couple times to pick up. Never heard it, is it any good?
  17. I think the only band I listen to that's considered doom metal is Acid Bath. I've been listening to them since high school but have never branched out much in the genre to other bands. I like Dax Riggs a lot. Agents of Oblivion, his solo stuff, it's all pretty good in my book.
  18. If I'm ever near Chicago, I'm for sure going to check that place out. Also, I noticed a facebook post last night that said they were working on the Adore reissue yesterday. I'm super pumped about that. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.
  19. I think he was saying before that he got roped into the 6131 release and wanted to get the SRC release.
