I don't often comment on here, but statements like these make me cringe.

ITR is a consistently fantastic label.  Not only do they remain committed to putting out killer releases, but in the increasing age of "limited edition" releases by labels who refuse to even acknowledge a pressing number, ITR remains true to their tradition of 200 colored copies at the same price as the standard editions.  As well, though I don't know him personally, all communications / questions / emails I've ever had with Larry have been friendly and informative--  truly I'd describe him as a label owner who recognizes and appreciates dedicated fans of the label.

"Really don't know what we spent $80 on"?

You spent $80 on EXACTLY what was advertised.  A limited edition pressing of the new Fuzz record on gold vinyl, limited to 300 copies, with a cover and poster unique to this release.  Based on that description, did you really think this was going to cost $75 to produce?

My assumption is that the high price was partially intended to cut down on flippers / a "middle man" market.  It gets a lot of the money many would have spent on the secondary market (if this had been priced at say $30 and snatched up by those intending to flip) DIRECTLY to the label, which will be funneled right back into putting out more kick ass music.  Larry clearly recognizes the popularity of Ty / Fuzz right now and is using that to generate funds for his label (300 copies is still extremely limited for a group as popular as Fuzz) while also cutting down on the number of people profiting off of flipped copies...  obviously, the higher price will not eliminate flippers, but it has to have helped cut down a bit and ITR is still able to get a limited edition into the hands of collectors.

Bottom line:  If sending a extra money to a label I love (and who has provided me with countless great records / limited editions over the years) and keeping that money away from someone on discogs flipping a copy for 3-4 times the cost = getting ripped off that's a pretty sad comment on the state of record collecting these days.

Just give up on everything, ever.  You'll find that it's a lot easier and nothing is really worth it.

Step 1: Admit that you have a problem.
    Step 2: Easy Pass.
You see, when I became one with Easy Pass and accepted him as my savior, saying no became as easy as breathing.
Just say no and D.A.R.E. to keep collectors off variants.

I have never used Amazon and never will but then again I've never ate a big mac. But I prefer other vinyl retailers. It also depends on the type of music your looking for too

How isn't it overlooked? It's very much overshadowed by Elephant and White Blood Cells in their discography.

Of all their albums, it gets talked about the least. I said overlooked RECORD, not artist. No need to be a sarcastic jerk.

Hi everyone - this is John at AKR. I so appreciate you all as fans of vinyl.

I can't constantly monitor this board and Reddit and the other things as part of my part-time-ish job, but I can post here for a minute and answer a few of your questions.

re: general profit margin. We are making the same amount of money on this edition as we are the regular edition, and maybe even a little less. So to those folks here and a few other places who are thinking we're just cashing in, this is a really stupid way to cash in. Yes, we'll sell some more Illinois vinyl. But we're doing our best to make good music like this record accessible to as many people as possible without compromising on the art.
re: shipping. Can't help it. It's calculated live by the USPS. The weight on this product is about 2.5 lbs which compensates for the extra goodie that we're working on.
re: extra goodie. It won't change your life but I hope you'll think it's cool. We just had to work out a few logistics and we're waiting to announce it until January or so.
re: black/colored vinyl. Black vinyl is a color. It's just the most ubiquitous.
re: mastering. We had to re-plate in late 2014 and we went with Roger Seibel at SAE who is a mastering genius in my opinion. I don't always like everything Roger does, but he was perfect for this. The good news is that we went with triple-plating on this so we won't need to replate for a while.
re: Avalanche. Working on it. This is the 10th anniversary of Illinois, so why would we celebrate Avalanche? Avalanche has some of my personal favorite Sufjan songs but it is an outtakes record. Illinois is the star. We'll get to it as soon as we can.

Thanks again for all your support. We appreciate you all very much, and it's only because you keep buying the music we release that we can keep releasing new, good music. - John at AKR
