rcafilm reacted to leocuellar in Post Your Record Storage Area
Hi guys, I just discovered this wonderful forum and I have seen all the pages of this thread and taken some ideas for my storage area. I am still working on it but meanwhile I want to share some pictures of the current state.
I used a cabinet very similar to expedit, but this one was bought in Costco. I don't like my records to be so close to the floor so I decided to make a little table to hold the cabinet 12 inches high. I don't have any woodworking knowledge or background, I am a computer engineer but I had some power tools laying around and watching a few youtube videos gave me some idea of how to build the table.
What I have left to do is make stands for the speakers and also I want to make doors to the cabinets, the doors will be just wooden frames in which I can slip an LP cover attached with hinges to the sides of the cabinet slots.
Please excuse my bad English, I am a native Spanish speaker. Any comments welcome!

I got these units at target. You can find them in the home storage section. They are affordable and pretty thick. You can also get them in different sizes. We got one 2x3 and a shorter 2x2 for a lower surface area to put the turntable on. A little more expensive than the Ikea alternative but I feel they can hold more weight. I have around 150 records on the middle shelves, DVDs fill the storage boxes and cook books on the top. With all the stuff on the shelving unit, it still feels really sturdy.

Menorah Majora 10" over anything.

I hear you! I'd buy the For Sale EP on vinyl, for sure.

We Will Erase All Life On Earth but Us or Slumming It With Johnny would probably be a better fit considering they were on the For Sale EP but I think But A Fleeting Illness fits the IARB era just fine.

So it does! Thanks for the heads up.
Also, I kinda thought this was common knowledge, but you guys should probably be cleaning all your new purchases before spinning them, regardless. Many records definitely do not come from the factory clean.

In a strange twist of fate, it appears splatter is sold out but haze is still available.

This is really a fantastic sounding pressing. Mine is nice and quiet and I just love how Scogin's guitar tones sound on vinyl. Really pleased.
Plus it gets an A on vinyl sexiness.

Solid State just posted this. Splatter looks nice, I'm happy. Also, according to them, "Needless to say this is no longer a preorder after next week." So that's interesting. Getting a record a whole month and a half early? That's a new one.

So I got an email, and from what I've gathered doing my homework here, there are actually 700 splatters, and 300 haze. 1,000 total, just like Thrill Seeker. 700 of one variant, 300 of the other-just like Thrill Seeker. Explains why haze is $3 extra. Or $2 or whatever it is.

Okay, SS confirmed via Facebook that the two newest tracks are included. Makes a ton more sense now. Not sure why they didn't just throw them on a 7" like they did with the first 4 ABR Christmas tracks, but whatever.

"Haze" effect records are almost always from Pirates Press, and almost always arrive covered in a fine invisible sandy grit leftover from the pressing process, which makes an awful sound when pulling the record out of the sleeve and is probably fucking up your needle. And they almost always sound like a butthole.

Tooth & Nail doesn't own the rights to any of their pre-2013 releases anymore. They sold their entire back catalog to EMI like a year ago, with the exception of August Burns Red and I think Demon Hunter? EMI isn't interested in pressing anything themselves, and most smaller labels have been shut out when they've tried to license releases. I think the only old T&N release that's been put out on vinyl since the deal has been Copeland - You Are My Sunshine, which the hand may actually own the rights to themselves. This has been covered in almost every T&N related thread, try to keep up.

Solid State just posted what appears to be an entirely new pressing of ABR's sophomore LP, complete with new cover art.
Available on clear with red splatter for $18 and clear with red haze for $20, apparently limited to 700 and 300, respectively.
Ships February 2nd.
