  1. Have to find a way to preorder this.. its difficult to explain just how much I enjoy Oberst's music. Extremely excited for an actual solo release without the mystic valley bands somgwriting influence involved (dont get me wrong, I love Outer South and a few of my favorite songs ever written are on it. But self titled, which was less strongly influenced by tmvb, was so much more compelling as a whole.) Curious also to hear if this will still be laced with Mike's trademark production. Its odd that conor would make such an effort to shed the "Americana," "folk" style of bright eyes on their final (?) LP, stating how he so strongly longed to escape the circular twang of the bands discography, just to return to the style his solo releases with tmvb achieved. I guess he got enough a break from acoustics and folk styled compositions during the desaparecidos reunion. Regardless. This sounds fantastic and I am ecstatic.
  2. So many people complaining about enjoying something simply for the joy of nostalgia .. I don't understand it. Maybe because I put such focus on previous childhood enjoyments and the innocent, pure nostalgic pleasure they bring. The way an old Monster Hunter VHS tape found at a thrift store can take my mind from the stress and disdain of life in the present, all the terror that aging into your twenties and farther can bring, instead remembering briefly the simple excitement of enjoying entertainment in childhood. For me I cherish such catalysts. So whether it be a thrift store, ebay sellers or Hot Topic, I greatly appreciate when fate leads me to encountering such remembered joy. No matter where it's found. So even if hot topic is mainly marketing transparent Disney tshirt prints to a youth who never experienced the content they're sporting in the same way we did before they were even born, the store will always find a customer in adults like myself who greatly appreciate the value of all the commercial represses they acquire rights to market.
  3. Milk music AND Iceage in one show? Dont break my brain. I'm pretty sure I was lucky enough to come across the Iceage tape you refer to online but I've never even heard this milk music one. How is the quality of the live performance? I know their other live tape (believe from a radio performance? ) sounds great. Oh and since their fanbases sometimes intersect, does anybody here listen to Yuppies? I ask because they did a live performance on a radio which was never released and I downloaded the podcast and split it into individual mp3s and tagged it up nicely for my mp3player. If anyone was interested I could pm a link to download it. They played most of their self titled album. The quality isn't spectacular but it's listenable. And if no one here listens to Yuppies at all yet, I would highly recommend them! Their self titled was in my top three LPs of 2013 list.
  4. if memory serves I'm almost certain he starter song shop after In Defense and before Self Titled. Teenage me was obsessed with the concept of my then favorite lyricist writing a song for me so I remember it pretty well. Still never got one and am kinda disgusted to know he did the shop for so many years. Just seems to stretch a lyricist thin.
  5. My awesome girlfriend got me this for my birthday and I agree that the packaging is of really nice quality. Speaking of represses, though, what are the chances of them actually happening? I saw a copy of Three Cheers go for $250 on ebay last week. Was shocked. I have bullets and three cheers on red and have been praying for a black parade repress.
  6. I'm curious what you find feminine or immature about enjoying both those bands. Especially brand new. Sure, blink was young and silly on many early releases but they developed and released well crafted albums. And brand news Devil and God and Vices in no way show any signs of youthful femininity. So I'm just confused as to why you'd insinuate their fanbases are predominantly young teen females. The only reason I can think of is that these are bands one usually finds early in their music discovering endeavours. Still, though, that in no way diminishes the respect their adult fanbases have for the music they create.
  7. Asian man wasn't the best label for them, IMO, so I'm glad to see them move on. I just have bad history with Asian Man though.
  8. Been listening to this all week trying to convince myself to not spend more money.. but that transparent gold fits the album SO well!
  9. How many mtg cards do you have? If you want a really low number I may want them. I only have my decks from when I was younger but want a ton of random cards to let a friend make a deck with so we can relearn to play. I regret giving away my hundreds of mtg cards years ago.
  10. I cant find a tracklist on my phone so I wasn't sure, but I really hope they're recording a follow up to cruise your illusion!
  11. I love milk music and will have to get this. I heard they were writing a new album aimed for the summer but I wonder if this was what I heard about.
  12. Holy nostalgia. I have some awesome cards. Lol. Maybe instead of selling I should just buy a display binder haha But I have 293 various Pokemon cards from the sets mentioned in my previous post. I also have seven of the tops collectible Pokemon cards. And 11 cardboard cutout cards which I think came from burger king in the late 90s? Or something. Also found dbz and digimon cards so this is a good day lol
  13. I just found my cards. I'm counting them. All Pokemon, no energy cards. They range from the jungle and fossil sets to whatever set the "ex" Pokemon came in. I have some rares, including Exploud ex which someone offered me a $20 for once. I'd really like to get rid of them all since I'm in currently without income.
  14. Is this entirely out of print now? I've wanted one for years and planned to get one at the reuinion tour but there weren't any. Always ignored the Avery and Aeroplane LPs because I planned to get this one day but now I fear that won't be possible.
  15. I know a couple days ago I spoke to a few people when i was looking for a blue variant. I spoke to a few people before making a deal so there's hope out there for you to find one for a fair price. I'd keep looking right now while it's still new and people who may not dig it as much are receiving their copies in the mail
  16. Curious as to the quality of the robe included in the bundle. Gotta love a band that brands themselves on sweatpants, pillowcases and robes. They sure know their target audience.
  17. I'll break out the cards and let you know about them sometime today. And the charizard comes up to my waist or higher when on the floor, it was REALLY huge to me as a kid lol
  18. God I love that record so much. My favorite from his solo releases. Always planned to get it one day and never knew it was THAT hard to find!
  19. I've got so much pokemon shit. Cards, DVDs, vhs tapes, stuffed animals, books, once had toys.. I'm like you. Pokemon always represented pleasant nostalgia and youthful escape since I had such a childhood obsession with it. I should probably part with some of it.. lol. Edit with some stuff I see glancing around my room I might get rid of.. A handpainted pikachu ceramic piggybank A small backpack in the shape of a plump, purple gengar (one of the straps needs to be resewn, but it looks like a normal stuffed animal on my shelf) Multiple stuffed animals of various size including small/medium sized Meowth and charmander as well as GIGANTIC charizard plush and huge pikachu plush. Box full of a couple hundred Pokemon cards many Pokemon themed books, including a nice three hardback book set of "where is Waldo" type collages of Pokemon on each page.. really nice to look at, I enjoy these too much lol I'm sure there's a lot more in my closet.
  20. If a band I was a fan of did this with an interesting design I'd get one.
  21. Would you consider selling? If not what kind of trades are you looking for? I spent months excited to buy this at the reunion tour then they didn't have any at the merch table! Was devastated.
