Get out while you still can, Muzzy. Those of us from the old days that are here are too far gone to detach.

thanks!! yeah, the split is at the plant. we should have tests soon and hopefully its out for Au Revoir to hit the road in March (hopefully). the Tyler songs sound amazing. he recorded it live with a 7 piece band. the lp is sounding great too. he has all the core stuff down for it and is currently adding extra guitar tracks, violin, etc. we're probably looking at late fall for that one.

here we go, big year going on and i figured i'd make a thread about it.

first off we're doing a 7" for Boston's Raw Blow of their 2014 cassette called Slow Choke. Raw Blow is members of Now Denial, Furnace, Luau and Bravo Fucking Bravo, so they obviously already fit perfectly with the TJR family. pre-orders are up and the record will be out in a week or so.

next up is a split 7" with VT's Tyler Daniel Bean and NJ's Au Revoir. recorded completely live at Dead Air Studios in 2015 and coupled with art work from the amazing Will Schaff (Godspeed, Brown Bird, Songs:Ohia, etc). pre-orders should be going live end of Feb.

after that we have a bunch of stuff in the works:
the double LP discography from Boston band Moment is FINALLY making the light of day. vinyl is at the plant now. packaging is being hand silk screened and letter pressed. pre-orders should be live in mid-march or so. we'll be doing shirt and hoodie combos.

then we're doing a 12" version of Ascend/Descend's Murdock St, a 7" from Ordinary Lives, and the a new LP from Tyler Daniel Bean. so keeping busy. check out some stuff and maybe check out the webstore. buy something, help grease the wheels and keep the new releases coming out! www.torjohnsonrecords.com

You should get Dan from Artistic Integrity Records to paint you something. He did a few really cool Jawbreaker-related pieces for a friend of mine. I think there's a way to contact him at AIR's site - www.artisticintegrityrecords.com

I would highly argue against ordering online....taking your print to a shop and using corner samples to see different colored options and profile styles will yield results you'll be happy with for a lifetime. I would also argue against the artwork being right up against the glass...I know matting isn't always the aesthetic everyone is going for (I have quite a soft-spot for minimalism myself) but matting is part of an archival framing process. Also, if you paid any decent amount for this print and are keen on viewing it for years to come, do yourself a favor and frame it using conservation glass, nothing sadder than a 10-year old print faded out looking like trash.

I don't own a computer. I've got three different tape 4-tracks and a stand alone digital 16-track Fostex DAW. Four of those cheap focusrite starved Tube pre-amps. Mogami cables. 57, 58, beta 57, senheiser e835, a pair of SM94's (cheaper than 81's and do the job), and one of those god-awful Beringer B-2 LDC. I use an old BoomBox as a Room Mic...compression on that thing does some fun stuff.
Sometimes I record digitally and run it through one of the decks....sometimes to tape and dump it to digital....sometimes send it off to friends with Pro-Tools to tweak and play with. I've got an older model Boss digital 8-track that took a hard drop and quit recording, but all the goofy digital effects still work so I use it as a make-shift outboard all-in-one box.
I monitor with a pair of AKG K240's
My shit isn't "pro" by any means. But I've also never tried to let anybody pay me for the recordings. Super fun to demo shit on though. It gets aggravating sometimes...but it's what I got. Reading the TapeOp article about Sufjan's entire album being recorded and mixed on one of these stand alone DAWs and a pair of headphones was invigorating and appalling to say the least, he got much better signals than i try to get.

The new pine shelves, Nornas, as pretty damn sturdy.
Also to whomever doesn't understand why people wouldn't want to spend more than $70 on shelving for a a few grand worth of LPs....most people probably didn't drop a few grand on LPs at one time. I, for one, have a couple of low-paying jobs so a one time purchase of $100+ is next to impossible. I don't have a savings account (don't have enough money leftover from paychecks to open one or keep money in it), nor do I have credit cards or credit.....I don't have the tools, time, or space to build from scratch either
So last year's Tax Return went towards some Nornas and the first real bed (not just a metal bed frame) I've had since I was about 7

yeah, its the only option i had. We live in a tiny 890 sq. foot condo, no garage, and my wife's bike that was locked up under our car port got  stolen. So now my bike is stored as wall art.

I'm not sure any of this is helpful, but here goes.

First, I'm truly sorry you and her are at the point you are at right now. Fighting in a relationship, especially with the one person who means the world to you....love can be the most beautiful and rewarding of feelings, but also the most brutal and painful. You need one for the other.

Second, and I don't mean to sound cold, but it sounds like you need to swallow your pride if she does mean everything to you. You have to know when to admit you're wrong, but also she has to come to terms and accept that living in a strange city is difficult, too. Lay it all out on the line, because at this point, what do you have to lose that you feel like you haven't lost already? Maybe a catharsis is what you need, or maybe it won't change a thing, but I think opening up, and then giving it space to breathe so you both can take the appropriate time to decompress, will do you a world of good.

    Good luck
