Finally got my copy. The black-in-blue colour-in-colour came out exactly how I like! Haven't listened to this thing in ages so it's been a welcome spin. It's made me realise how much more chilled this release is over Aurora, which gets spun a lot here. Aurora is rawer, which is why it's more immediate for anyone listening to the band for the first time; There's so much impact track to track. Hush is a polished, maturer record, it makes me yearn a little for Aurora's pacey moments to prevent me feeling lost in some of the lengthier cuts, but that's not always a bad thing, being lost in some of the tracks that have huge atmospheres and depths is warmth needed some nights.
I'm really enjoying the new album as well. Are you in the US? I haven't found a US shop that has the vinyl in stock. I have it preordered from Zia.

I have an extra white vinyl copy with black labels. Unnumbered. Open to offers if people are still looking, otherwise I will add it to Discogs.

So from the pics posted online, the Scarry book just looks like an oversized baby board book that holds 3 records? Was hoping it'd be more like the recent hardcover included with OkComputer or the last Yorke solo album. Definitely seems overpriced for what it is.
-
Merchbar changed the listing details back to the regular Beck pressing. The old bait and switch move.
-
My original notes said a 10/22 release date. So I was expecting it to ship last week or around this time. The Dec 25 date is what I saw on my locals website which links up to their distributor. It'd be coming through the Canadian distributor, as mentioned above.
-
Did the vinyl release get delayed until Dec 25th? That's what is showing on my local record store's website.
-
Curious why they haven't posted a pic of the BSBD Wax Mage. Maybe hasn't been pressed yet.

Anyone happen to know if Blue Note intends to repress Bobby Hutcherson's Oblique and/or The Kicker?
I believe they intend to keep all the Tone Poets and Classics in print, more or less, butpressing plants are so backed up right now that represses are slowly trickling in. Some of the early BN Classics titles are being restocked at a variety of vendors, e.g., Lee Morgan's Sidewinder.

plaid room records in ohio are excellent (whether it is pricing, packing or communicating in general) and i’m pretty sure they are going to get some, but they are usually slow in posting new inventory. maybe send an email or call them, and keep your eyes peeled over the coming days.
I talked to Plaidroom. They are not doing a pre-order for this. They did say they ordered hundreds of copies of this title. It'll drop the night of November 4, when they release their "new releases" email. Also, likely to be Limit 1 Per Customer.
My guess is they'll charge $55 for it, and it'll ship for free. Seems like their prices are always a few dollars less than every other shop. -
Received my copy of LLO from Burnt Toast today. It's a 10 out of 10. I own the Big School Records gold pressing as well, and this new version far surpasses that in overall quality and attention to detail.
It's a heavy weight trifold jacket with reflective printing. Tons of glossy photos. All LPs are clean and come in Gotta Groove MoFi-style rice paper inner sleeves. Also includes printed paper sleeves with additional artwork. A small insert with more photos and information. Recording notes, etc. The LPs are a little different from the mockups. I ordered the amber with black swirl but it ended up being more of a multicolor swirl. Doesn't really matter that much, just worth mentioning. Still looks greatm. I have only listened to Side A thus far. Plays clean.
I think everyone here will be really pleased with this reissue.

My Amazon ones are preparing now. Excited to kick back on Friday with a beer and spin them both.
anyone get the new Lawn Boy color press and can compare it to the black earlier one?
I think the LB reissue was pushed back to July 2 release date,

Yeah, thanks for clarifying that! It is super easy to cancel it. I've cancelled like 3 different times.
When do you have to cancel by? Or can you cancel immediately?

Finally did a side by side comparison using this and an original mono pressing in VG+ condition. The original mono still wins. Don't know if it's because it's mono and this is stereo, but the tonal qualities are different and the OG sounds a bit less muted. I will say that I have no regrets buying this new version. It is beautiful and I highly recommend the high expense as it will be a jewel in any collection for years to come. My test to see if there can be a better version than the original has come to an end and as usual with old jazz records the original pressing won.
Mono vs. Stereo is an apples and oranges comparison, but I'm glad you're happy with both versions. I have the UHQR and it's a wonderful pressing. Also have the 2013 mono reissue and that too is incredible. But jazz in general I think sounds better in mono.

Eh, you need a record vacuum to properly clean with alcohol because it dries too quick. If you have a record vacuum it's nearly pointless to wet clean new records unless you've already figured out it has some sort of residue... I see your username everywhere on discogs (usually complaining about surface noise) touting your very expensive setup, maybe don't use a solution you made for free from stuff lying around the house and just buy something made for it. Wouldn't hurt.
Thanks for the education! Of my all my reviews on discogs, how many are about surface noise? Seems like you just looked up my profile and read my recent review for Phoebe Bridgers Punisher, an album known to have issues.

No wonder... care to share with us how you're diluting that?
FFS, that's not the issue. A capful of 99% iso in a basin of distilled water hasn't hurt anything in the 15 years I've been buying records. But apparently that's the issue here with this release, right? It's a shitty pressing from MPO, across all variants. See the poor reviews pile up online.

2nd copy of Mondo version arrived. Wet cleaned with water and isopropyl. Surface noise throughout album. Single channel distortion and farts during numerous songs. This 2nd copy is even more warped than my first copy. Such a bummer.
Ill wash it a few more times and hope for the best.

Yeah, seems like a mixed bag. I've also heard from another person that their local record store warned them about buying the pressing because feedback from their customers consisted of complaints about surface noise. I hope you have better luck with your copies.

pretty heavy surface noise on the red. is the white any better?
No. Looks at the discogs reviews.

Ugh that sucks I actually have the exact same variant from the recent Cowboy Bebop release (picture not mine but it's def the same mix pressed at MPO) that sounds incredible. Seems like you're unlucky

Good to know. I reached out,to Mondo. Maybe I'll be able to swap my copy for a different one, if they have any left.

Did you wet clean it before you played it to begin with? It's an MPO pressing which is generally one of the better plants out there to the point where I get excited seeing their stamp on the dead wax. Hopefully this is an isolated instance.
Yeah, I clean all my albums before I spin them. I have another similar variant, this marbled translucent style vinyl pressed at MPO, and it too is heavy on the surface noise. It's the Drive soundtrack on gold vinyl. Generally speaking, MPO is pretty good, I agree.

1. Search by the UPC on google for the Clifford Ball box set. Indie shops that have it in stock will show up in the search results. Indie shops are selling it between $450 and $500. The distrubter for this title had a price of $350 for indie record shops, so the $100+ markup is to cover the shop's margins. It sucks, but from the record store employees I spoke with, they paid $350 just to get a copy in their store. Careful with this one though, came out of GZ and some reports of warps are showing up.
2. No clue on this one.
3. The live phish series may be dead, or (more likely) they haven't announced new albums because of the long delays at pressing plants. They may announce new releases once they have them in hand or slightly before manufacturing is complete.
