Got the new Conan in...disappointing on first listen. Doesn't feel like a cohesive album and the last track especially feels really tacked on. Wish either they had started the album similarly, or had incorporated the synths throughout. Real bummer. Probably the last time I blindly buy from these guys. 😕

This was actually very interesting. Obviously this guy is going to talk up their own processes. I'm anxious to see how, if at all they, change the banner or if there is any sort of legal blowback on this. They claim in the article to have used this DSD process on Tony Bennett - I Left My Heart In San Francisco, but that album does have the Original Master Recording banner on it...

Looks like it's available through the RFC "magic circle" subscription thing they have? That's all I'm seeing so far though.

Honestly haven't been listening to a ton of new music lately anyway. New Conan album comes out in August, judging by the singles I'll like it a lot. New Built to Spill, Holy Fawn and Tim Kasher likely make the cut, and I enjoyed the new onelinedrawing and Anthony Green albums but maybe not enough to hit the best of list. DIDN'T like the new Father John Misty album, and surprisingly didn't really care for Dawn FM either.

Glad to see that Blushing album on there. It's in my list too.

As a fan of the band and the music, and a pretty anti social-media person a) it's just frustrating that they'd pretend to be so secretive and then kick dude out of their super secret club for sharing that same exact info that they also apparently leaked. And b) as I've already said I'm a fan of the band as well. I have a first press of Death Spells and have kept up with threads about them in anticipation of this release. As an "old dude" I'm not about to try keeping up with every social media post they put out/follow them on discord though. As for " WhY dO LimITeD VaRiaNTs?" Like...ok? I don't give all that much of a shit about it so long as it has the music on it.
