PO: Sleater-Kinney - No Cities to Love
slushy replied to tape's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
This was enjoyable to watch! I was under the impression that I disliked all of that youtube record review type stuff, but your voice is fairly pleasant and you do not come off as condescending or anything. I guess it's just that Needle Drop guy with all the wacky jumpcuts and shit that I dislike! -
PO NOW: Screaming Females - Rose Mountain
slushy replied to discoinfiltrator07's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I am so keen for this! Screaming Females have to easily be the best current rock band going. I cannot think of another current rock or alternative band who have managed to get to full length number six with all of the albums being as consistently great as the Scremales records have been. They've become better song writers each time around, they keep shit interesting and don't remain stagnant, but at the same time never seem to stray too far from the sound they began with. They're just such a ridiculously great band, and I'm stoked they exist! -
PO soon: Knapsack Reissues (australia only?)
slushy replied to thepunkguy's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Poison City almost never include inserts or cool booklets with their releases. It's a bummer, and there's been a few releases I've been about to pick up but decided against due to knowing there'd be no insert. I always wonder if they do it to cut costs or if they just don't bother unless the band specifically requests it. -
Whenever you read males on the internet talking about how they like Taylor Swift it almost always sounds like they're being ironic. I'm not saying that they are being ironic, but it comes across that way. Like there's rarely much discussion about the actual tunes and there's always a bunch of that "Man, I am really enjoying this new Taylor Swift album. LOL, normally I listen to hardcore, but I also really like Taylor Swift! Isn't that weird?" kinda stuff, and it just comes of as really disingenuous and sleazy. That coupled with the weirdness of people (especially in this thread) posting pics of her and commenting on her looks. You don't see that in no Deftones thread, and it is creepy as fuck.

Thanks for the update, Var! I am super glad you guys send out mp3s on/before release day now so folks can still listen despite these unavoidable delays!

Literally Figurative Records (Comedy and Music)

I really wish those Paul F Tompkins albums got vinyl releases. Freak Wharf in particular! The Jen Kirkman albums as well. -

it's not that big of a deal -
PO: Chumped - Teenage Retirement
slushy replied to NoFxpunkguy's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I thought I'd like this band, but their first EP was super boring. I have only heard a few tracks off of the album, but I'm not into it so far. I have a copy of the first pressing of the 12" EP (with the screen printed b-side), if anybody wants one and is down to trade... -
PO: NOW! LAGWAGON - HANG
slushy replied to Violentsharks87's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I freaking hate that they felt the need for the word "Hang" to appear on the cover. It's completely unnecessary and ruins an otherwise striking photograph! -

What else has been repressed as a "Fat Classic"? -
PO: Sleater-Kinney: Start Together Box Set (10/21)
slushy replied to agaetisbyrjun's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
My box showed up yesterday! I was kinda slightly regretting the purchase before seeing it just cause of how much the shipping was to Australia, but now having seen it I am so stoked I grabbed one. As others have said, this thing is really well put together and I'm super glad to own a copy. I convinced myself I'd offset the cost by selling my original copies once I got the set, but I'm thinking I'll just keep them as well. -
Total Control - Typical System

^^^this is a guy who just does not get it -
I would definitely make a point of getting a refund (or partial refund)/replacement from Interpunk, especially on an expensive item. I understand that shit happens, but Interpunk are not a tiny bedroom label or a band quickly packing up records for mailing after getting home from their day job. They are a mail order business, packing records for shipping is literally all they do! And if they're packing shit up properly it should only be a handful of damaged items a month and they can take that on the chin.

If it's through a huge retailer (Amazon!) or a big label, I will usually attempt to chase up replacements, even if it's just something insignificant. I don't care that much about tiny imperfections, but I figure they can afford it. With small labels I'll let almost everything slide, unless the record is seriously damaged, then I'll try to get a replacement copy sent out at a cheaper price, usually with my next order.
