My favorite has to be "Be Around." Love the pulsing synth that carries through the song. The various riffs with the higher pitch synths work perfectly. Kinda get some Empire of the Sun vibes off of it. Added this one to my driving playlist!

You're correct. Just found the email in my spam folder and it says October 6th. Thanks!

They sent an email saying the two other records were delayed and will be shipped in October (if I remember correctly).

No idea. I was in the same boat as you and figured they were finally getting around to a standard vinyl release.

Looks like there's a violet variant exclusive to AUS/NZ: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/music/Whats-Hot/electronic/a-moment-apart-limited-edition-violet-vinyl/454286/
Sidenote: If anyone is willing to let go of their 7" single for a small fee lmk!

if anyone is considering ordering the clear variant, please let me know. I'll split it out of the bundle at a discounted cost because all I want is SG and ND

cobannaboc got a reaction from wbhendrix in PO: The War On Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
This album has lived up to my expectations. Definitely in my top 3 albums of 2017. Glad I pitched for the box because like many others have already said it's a great package. Can't believe I'll be out of town for their stop in Berkeley!

Someone just asked Eric on the Flightless Instagram if there would be any other colored versions and he said "Nah." So I went with @Darnoc recommendation and bought the 200g "Hell Machine Oil Grease" black variant.

cobannaboc reacted to rcafilm in PO Now: Interpol - Our Love To Admire (10th ann'y repress)
Just got my copy in. Comparing it to the original press for fun. Artwork/layout are almost completely identical, minus the legalese and logos. The jacket and sleeves on the original press are noticeably higher contrast/saturation than the new pressing, curious if that was intentional or just a printing difference. The sleeves on the OP also had one top shorter than the other for record removal, whereas the new sleeves have even tops. When it comes to the records themselves, the new 180g pressing is obviously thicker. Labels do not suffer the contrast discrepancy.
As far as the sound, I've only had a chance to listen to the first disc, but wow. This is how this record was meant to sound. The range is there, the detail is there, it's quiet, the atrocious distortion is all but gone. I say "all but gone" because to my ears the latter half of The Scale did not sound up to par with the beginning of Pioneer, but it's still totally listenable. The rest of the experience so far has been stellar. The bass on Pioneer is thunderous. Heinrich Maneuver comes in sounding punchy as hell. Guitars sound accurate and drums tend to leap out at you. Playing this record for someone will get you laid.

wow. not bad if they really moved them that fast.
but the shipping cost isn't horrible. it's about $14 to travel at least 9,400 miles from AUS to USA. that's like one fifteenth of a cent per mile.

Hopefully this is where Flightless puts up another first pressing version that's a hell of a lot more interesting than white vinyl

cobannaboc got a reaction from no use for a username in PO Now: Yumi Zouma - Willowbank
Omnian: https://www.omnianmusicgroup.com/collections/cascine/products/willowbank
Bandcamp: https://yumizouma.bandcamp.com/
Just over a year after releasing their lauded debut LP, Yoncalla, Yumi Zouma return with Willowbank, the band’s sophomore album.
Limited edition (1000) Willowbank 12"s are pressed on baby blue vinyl and include sheet music for album highlight 'Carnation’ printed on premium cotton paper. Select limited edition LPs will also include hidden entry tickets to invite-only release parties in New York City and Los Angeles, featuring live and DJ sets from the band.
For the making of Willowbank, Yumi Zouma's members — Charlie Ryder, Josh Burgess, Christie Simpson and Sam Perry — settled on a plan to reunite for the New Zealand summer. To complete what would become their first significant work written and recorded entirely in their home country, they rented a studio in Christchurch’s semi-demolished CBD, on one of the few remaining blocks that still characterizes the city from before it was destroyed by a series of earthquakes. “It was as though there was a brief pause in all of our lives and we finally felt like a band from New Zealand,” said Burgess. “We were on home turf and creating from a place that felt fundamentally natural.” When you know it’s there, the feeling of rootedness is undeniable on Willowbank. Being connected to their origins on the bottom of the earth allowed the band’s members to craft another essential chapter in the Yumi Zouma storybook.
