  1. The "Kid" part of your username is really throwing me for a loop.
  2. I can imagine. A truly consistent pop album is a beautiful thing. That being said, has anyone seen Miley break a "best of 2013" list yet? The few articles / lists I've read have been void of her.
  3. To each their own. I don't bother with albums (or artists) who aren't consistent, personally. But more power to those who enjoy their singles.
  4. You should branch out from one genre of music I guess.
  5. There are definitely obscure gems out there, but I'd say it's silly to think that obscurity is directly proportionate to quality. (Even though I suspect you were being a little sarcastic.) And continuing with said sarcasm, I've got to say that a lot of "big name" artists killed it, this year.
  6. That's how you know you've got a great album on your hands. Long live chart toppers.
  7. Of the 10 artists you've just posted, I can't say I've even heard mention of a single one. I am familiar with 2 of the 8 labels, though.
  8. Yeah. His initial post has been modified to an actual request, now.
  9. You missed the party. I can assure you there was nothing normal about it, or the OP.
  10. Last one I eyed on eBay went for $56 or so. Courtesy of Lazy Lab.
  11. With the repress of Fire In Our Throats, I've decided it's time to round out the Pelican collection. I'm on the hunt for; Pelican: Australasia, RSD exclusive, translucent gold vinyl. or Pelican: Australasia, RSD exclusive, yellow and black haze vinyl. ++ Pelican: What We All Come To Need, clear with black and red splatter vinyl, / 500. or Pelican: What We All Come To Need, translucent red vinyl, / 1,000. Either of either variant would be swell. Surely someone's got to be sitting on a few extra variants. I'm especially interested in any new copies, if possible. There are some gold Australasia's on Discogs for $30 that I'm considering... but I figured I'd try here first. And finally, despite owning an OG Saturday Night Wrist, I've randomly decided that I'd like to wrap up the Deftones discography on colored wax. I had no idea when the translucent mint green copies of SNW started fetching so much, but... Jesus. Fortunately, my copy sounds just fine so this one isn't a huge priority... but I want to throw it out on there on the off-chance someone's got an extra. If not, I'll probably just wait it out for one to pop up on Discogs for an affordable price. Thanks for looking. [edit] Did I not create this in the right board? I don't see how this request could've offended anyone, or why I'm in the wrong here.
  12. I'd like to clarify that I may be an idiot, and - upon revisiting all of the previous posts - have determined that I have no idea why I gathered it'd be a "rent" type of service. I don't think anyone implied that it would be, and I'm genuinely puzzled why I interpreted that to be the case. In which case, you can more or less negate all of the points I had made previously, ha. Whoops. The fault is my own on that one. Regarding your points, though, which I think are very valid -- I'd like to point out that I seem to always have a handful of very affordable, "in stock" wants, at any given time. Stuff that's somewhere between $15 and $20 PPD, and isn't going anywhere fast. I treat myself to one of them if I'm in a rut or have a bit of extra cash. I know most people focus on "white whales" and elusive records when building a want list, but I'd say it's possible to have a handful of common items in one. Also, great call on the Godspeed / tradelist example. I do indeed own a copy of 'Allelujah, but you really did pick a perfect band / scenario for me.
  13. I'm not going to attack Derrick or his idea, because it is kind of a cool concept. Unfortunately, it's just not practical - for me, at least - for the reasons listed above. In addition, does anyone else dislike the idea of "borrowing" a record? Unless it's a release that's exclusive to wax, I don't really see the point. If I really dig a release based on a leak or the MP3 album, I'll buy a copy. And if it's underwhelming or I don't think the price is justified, I don't buy it. That's all there really is to it. I guess it'd be cool to "check out" the gatefold and presentation of a record you're after... but knowing you have to send it back? I don't know. And like a few people have mentioned, you'd be putting an immense amount of trust into someone you [likely] don't know too terribly well, assuming you're sending out a $100+ record. It could be stolen, damaged by poor handling, or lost in transit. Just seems like a lot of risk to take, I guess. A better idea would be to keep the concept, but perhaps lessen the stakes. Maybe a group of "verified" (read: legit) VC users could pool together a collection of records that aren't worth as much in value, but are still certainly worth checking out and sharing. God knows I own a fair share of common variants that I'd much rather lend out than the more rare ones. You could list everyone's contributions publicly, and have people select releases or specify genres that they're into... or you could keep it a total mystery, so no one knows what they'd be receiving. I'd be much more willing to offer up a $15 record for something like that. But at the end of the day, when you consider the cost of shipping, packaging materials, and uncontrolled variables... I still don't think I'd opt for it. It would seem way easier to Google or Torrent a recommendation - digitally and instantly - than to wait for a physical copy to check out. But maybe that's just me.
  14. I definitely can agree with this. Generous amounts of patience and wiggling freed mine, but I suppose I lucked out with the lack of scratches.
  15. Personally, no. Mine was housed in the very back, but they did throw in a paper sleeve. Do you think yours maybe shifted in transit? Whatever happened, that's definitely a bummer. Have you checked to see if it effects playback? If so, I'm 99% sure Deathwish will have no problem sending you a replacement record.
  16. NO may very well be my favorite OMG record, too, so I find myself doubly excited to see which direction they may go from here.
  17. You should've underlined or bolded that bit, then. "Basic reading comprehension" has nothing to do with it; you can't expect me or anyone else to refer back to his original post in an attempt to compare it with the text you've cited.
  18. So I know it's a bit of a long shot, but since Charlee ended up skipping out on the bundle, did anyone else purchase one with a bit of buyer's remorse? Or are maybe hoping to offset the cost by selling one of their three copies? I'm still looking for either the standard black press, or the colored variant. I'm aware that standard copies are still for sale, but I'm trying to save a few bucks and help someone out in the process, if they'd be willing.
  19. I'd use them for obscure or hard-to-find music releases, or albums that are difficult to locate in a suitable bitrate, online. But considering your username, I suspect you've never faced either of those conflicts.
