So excited they are putting on the new album on Tiny Engines! I won't even have to think about preorders since I'm in on the yearly sub.
Cool. How about a new thread?
They're still getting called/calling themselves post-punk

Nice collection, thanks for sharing. I have a bootleg CD I got in the 90s that has some of these covers including Skinny Puppy's Smothered Hope. Don't recall what others, but the sound was shit.
So is this a straight recording of a single show? Not a collection of different live tracks from different shows?
I agree the cover art sucks compared to In Case...
Tempted to get one of these but still not sure. I love In Case... but maybe because it's a manageable length.

I need to not miss their show this time. Too bad it's an all-ages youth venue with no bar though.

The single reminds me of White Fence a bit. And that's cool.

coloured vinyl Oh Sees Orc up for pre order in the UK
Rough Trade has one too, but neither specifies the variant other than being colored. The RT one is limited to 1000.

I purchased one of the recent reissues (on black) a few weeks ago and I'm just gonna stick with that. Haven't opened or played it yet but I think I'm just not a fan of opaque gold vinyl.
-
Looks like these are out today. I'd love to know how they sound.

new song is... ehh. feels like this one is going to be more like era vulgaris which is the only QOTSA album i dont really care for. ill reserve final judgment till ive heard the whole album. artwork is rad though.
My thoughts exactly.

Tried the new single a few times but I'm really not into the beat-driven nature of the track. Solid meh.
Although the last Arctic Monkeys album was quite beat-driven and I ended up liking it a lot. So we'll see.

Based on the tracks they have streamed, I think a companion story book makes a lot of sense this time. There is a lot of talking.
Just had a look back at the OP after posting and the ATO versions are half the price, with 30 pages of illustration/story as well. So yeah, I'm not spending $45 for a different color vinyl.
Edit: I haven't heard anything from the album yet and all this talk of talking on the album worries me.
-
$45 for this at Flightless, fucking hell. Variants look cool and I would go for one of the vomit ones (not sold out) but I think I'll pass and pay less for an indie variant at a local shop. "30 page illustrated story book" sounds cool and all and I love art but I'm not looking to pay extra for that kind of stuff when I'm buying an album.

What do you guys think of the overall quality of these pressings? I recently bought the Odyssey and Oracle tri-color and it has significant popping (and even skipping) in some areas. I'd complain and return but they're all gone. Plus it looks too damn cool. Still though, a brand new $35 LP should be nice and clean.
It's the only vinyl pressing of O&O I've ever listened to and it certainly could be better. I have some minor popping if I recall but no skips.

Ok so Thee Oh Sees have dropped "Thee" from their name for some reason, but more importantly, have released a new single and announced a new album.

Signature aside, is this album any good? I didn't like the single posted earlier. At all.
-
Just got this in the mail a week and a half early. Sounds great so far - like Deerhunter + Women.
-
No need to pre-order, then.

Grabbed the black from my local store. They're pretty good with getting variants of they're available for retail, so you might be stuck with black.
Tried two stores this afternoon and neither had it in stock. I'll try another tomorrow (I'm ok with black). If still no luck, I'll maybe order a red one.
-
I think the cover artwork, with some of it being busy, would lend itself well to a solid clear or opaque color. No messy swirl or multi-color stuff.
Also I just noticed they are not on Warp Records anymore.
-
Album is out today, got the email from Static Shock Records yesterday with download, but I don't know if the vinyl has shipped yet. Sounds great so far. Some Psychobilly influence on a few tracks.

Also probably the wrong thread, but worthy of a bump. Looks like they're working on their first new music in almost 20 years!
I had a chat with a barista in my neighborhood wearing a Hum shirt a few months ago, who said he's high school friends with Tim Lash and that they were indeed working on new music.
-
Hoping to make a run to the record store today, but I'd love to know if any Red Rockets are available in the wild or if they're strictly going to be online from artist/label.
-
Looking forward to this, still need to check out the new songs. I was doing some heavy Veckatimest listening at work the other day - it was really tugging at my heartstrings. Shields didn't move me the same way but was still solid. Need to revisit that one soon.
-
Yes! Can't wait. I really liked the last few, and finally ordered a vinyl copy of Mess last week.

I thought a new Wand release would garner more attention. Maybe because there aren't colored variants?
