  1. I've been thinking about glueing a couple of my sleeves that have come undone, and rubber cement seems like the most legit suggestion thus far. As for sleeves that split along the crease, I don't tape or do anything to those suckers. I just stop putting the record in them and place the record and sleeve separately into the poly outer sleeve. Once the crease splits, a sleeve loses its right to hold a record.
  2. Does this mean I'll stop getting a big red warning screen saying that there's a phishing problem?
  3. Very true. I wonder how zero editors caught that... maybe there aren't editors?
  4. Parquet Courts this Sunday night at Spirit in Pittsburgh
  5. I thought it was a fairly decent run down for someone just starting out. What's so frightening about it?
  6. I kind of like it. I wish I would've thought of that in college.
  7. Hey DJboutit2, I used to use crates, and when I did, I always kept the opening facing up. Since the crates became flimsy once completely filled, I felt like turning them to the side would risk my collection spilling out. Eventually, I started to discover that the crates (along with becoming flimsy) were leaving markings and dings on my sleeves so I switched to some proper shelving. In the end, the shelving looked better too. For the time being while you have crates, keep them opening face up. Then get some shelving down the road whenever you can.
  8. I respect a collection that prominently features Weird Al! For only a couple months, it's looking great. Keep at it.
  9. I think FTWD was too slow for the first half of season one. If there wasn't a Walking Dead and FTWD was presented as a new show, it would've tanked. But now that things are rolling, I'm looking forward to the new season.
  10. Any other suggestions for affordable RCA cables (< $100) to upgrade from the stock Pro-Ject ones?
  11. I'm experiencing some humming with my Pro-Ject DC, and I've read that in addition to checking on the grounding wire, upgrading RCA cables from the ones that came with the turntable can help. Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent upgrade on cables? Thanks.
  12. Along with Dillatronic last fall and Diary this coming RSD, here comes Jay Loves Japan. http://www.fatbeats.com/products/j-dilla-jay-love-japan-lp
  13. I've been using the sleeve city 2.0 anti-static inner sleeves, which don't have any paper lining. What's the advantage of the paper lining mentioned in the above replies?
  14. Yeah, I love Bye Bye 17. From the couple tracks you can sample of this release, it sounds a little 80's-ish kind of like some of his older albums. But I'm still excited just because such a unicorn of strange singer. I'm jealous you'll have a chance to see him. He's not stopping in Pittsburgh and all the dates he's playing near me, I'm not free for a road trip.
  15. This is scary. This is scary. This is scary. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's lame. (turns off television)
  16. Pretty nice looking record at a decent price by the one, the only, Har Mar Superstar. http://www.cultrecords.com/product/best-summer-ever
  17. Tickets for Guns N' Roses go on sale this week. It's kind of like betting on a horse you're not sure will finish the race, but I'm placing my bet.
  18. I noticed two RSD releases available for preorder today. What's up with this practice? The White Stripes is a second party vendor, so I suppose they could be trying to suck up copies on RSD. But I'm pretty sure the Phish pre-order is their own site. Is this common? 19. I just got my deluxe edition yesterday. Booklet is 50% the photos you'll see on their website, but the other 50% are Iggy's hand-written lyrics which is kind of cool. Nice 180gram pressing in a decent quality poly-lined inner sleeve. The double gatefold isn't too exciting. Another standard photo that I already saw in one of their press releases or write ups. The sleeve isn't the thick board I was hoping for. As for the music, I'm digging it. I think I was let down at first because I was expecting this Iggy/QOTSA/Arctic Monkeys explosion to take place, and it's not. Much more mellow, but Homme's guitar work is stellar, and Iggy's lyrics and voice really started to get into my head on the second spin. My favorite tracks are the last couple on side-a. Overall, I'm happy to have picked up the deluxe.
