  1. No RSD purchases for me, I don't think. Nothing on the list that appealed to me, and I'm not super interested in any of the online sales. On the other hand, I'm considering taking a drive up to Montreal tomorrow. It's only about 4.5 hours from where I'm at in NH, I can take I-93 up through the White Mountains, and finally actually use my passport for something. Also, I'm sure there's a cool record store or six in the city.
  2. Hey T3! Good to hear you've got a possible cause to work against now...hopefully things are improving for you soon!
  3. Hmm...wonder if these is why I suddenly started getting a bunch of spam emails again? Fuckin' spammers. I'm gonna blame them anyway.
  4. Cool to know it's getting a vinyl pressing. At $35 +shipping, I'll wait until it hits Bull Moose later.
  5. Grabbed a preorder for the new Heaven In Her Arms LP...somehow I've managed to never listen to them until today, but I saw the thread & checked out a track, and it sounds like it'll fill an envy-sized hole in my heart (until envy releases a new album, of course). This will be my first time seeing Neurosis, so I'm wildly excited about it. I'm actually spinning Given To the Rising right now. I'm equally stoked to see Amenra...and Converge, too, but this will be somewhere around my 35th time seeing them, so it's a tad less urgent. Also, Oceanic is such a fucking perfect record. I go back to it pretty often. Easily a top 10 LP for me.
  6. Pretty excellent. Got tickets to see Neurosis & Amenra in August, taking a train ride next month & spending some time in Chicago, the weather's finally nice enough to spend time outdoors...can't complain too much.
  7. Happy Easter y'all. I come back randomly to this site after probably another 2 months of not posting, and within 60 seconds I'm preordering an album. VC is dangerous.
  8. Well, now, THIS will fill that void in my life until envy releases another record, I should say!
  9. Cannot be the realest, as there is a confirmed lack of Iggy Azalea on the cover.
  10. Now that I've finished listening to the studio version again, I'm checking out this live track from the Nerdist stream...holy fuck. Even streaming on my shitty laptop speakers this sounds amazing. Glad I jumped on buying this for sure.
  11. It's cool, thanks to the probable shipping delays, this will be brand new to you by the time the rest of us have listened to our copies so much we've gotten bored talking about it! You'll be able to get everyone excited for Jane Live again!
  12. Grabbed the Randy Ortiz one, because I figure transparent brown will pair nicely with the rootbeer float pressing of Jane that I already have, Normally I don't care too much about live albums, but this one is a no-brainer for me.
  13. Got off work a half-day early because of the snow today. Now I'm pretty much stuck in my apartment watching the weather get shittier and shittier until the parking garage turns free to park in an hour & a half, because we're also in a city-wide snow emergency which means I can't park on the street. New England winters are fun!
  14. Man, this year was awful, right? Like...dumpster fire, flaming hot bag of garbage awful. So let's have a thread to discuss what DIDN'T suck. What good things happened to you this year? What made it not awful?
  15. Morning y'all. Apparently New England is about to get buried by 12-16 inches of snow tomorrow morning. Fun times.
  16. From my girlfriend: - a copy of the game DiXit - The Last of Us for PS4 - an X-files t-shirt that looks like a rip of a Xibalba tee or something - some beard balm & lotion - stocking stuff - $100 gift card for Amtrak & a travel kit - some fleece pajama pants w/ the Steelers logo From her parents: - an Amtrak zip-up fleece - couple of flannel button downs - a couple coffee mugs that change w. heat (from the Amtrak logo, to a picture of a train & scenery) From my family (had Christmas with them when I was home for Thanksgiving) - new ceramic coated pots & pans from my parents - ice cream maker from my sister & her husband - Legos from my (7 year old) nephew
  17. Might be worth looking into something like a Uturn Orbit, or a "lower" tier ProJect table, too. The Debut Carbon I have retails for $399, and I got a good deal on a display model. An Orbit with a built-in phono stage would run you like $250-ish, a much easier entry than $600
  18. Yup, you're on the right track with that upgrade. I've been using the Debut Carbon for a bit over a year now, and am 100% happy with it.
  19. The ice cream I made last night turned out pretty good. Not particularly strong with the coffee flavor, but great taste & texture. Not bad for the first try. I'm wrapping last-second presents while working until probably 11. How's y'all's Christmas Eve treating ya?
  20. I think I may have been unclear...I'm actually quite happy with my 2M Red, and have been since day one. Which is why I'm not sure whether it's even time for me to change my needle yet. I already have a cork mat, so upgrading to the acrylic platter might not be the move yet either. I think I'm gonna go with the Speedbox. Thanks y'all!
  21. Think I'm finally gonna get the chance to try out the ice cream maker my sister got me for Christmas. Got a mixture sitting in the refrigerator for later tonight...I used coffee milk rather than chocolate milk, so it should have a bit of a mocha flavor once I churn it up & freeze it. Now, just gotta wait for the girlfriend to make it home.
  22. Last year, I upgraded my system entirely from a shitty Sony USB turntable run through some old RCA 5.1 system w/ roughly 80 watts to its name to the set-up I have in my signature. I just got my Christmas bonus from work today, and was thinking about possibly adding some new bells & whistles to my setup, so I thought I'd come here for advice on how to get the best bang for my buck. I'm considering a Speedbox because I'm tired of manually changing the pulley every time I want to listen to a record at a different speed than the last one. I'm also thinking of upgrading my Ortofon 2M from a Red to a Blue, but to be frank, I haven't really become unsatisfied with the sound I'm getting from the Red yet. I've thought about an acrylic platter, but I've read a number of posts here and reviews that mention a slight loss of bass response, so I'm not sure that's where I want to go. SO: Do I upgrade the Ortofon? Or add the Speedbox? Or just say fuck it, and spend some money on records later this year?
  23. I have to wrap a bunch of stuff for my girlfriend yet, but we're both working 3-11 tomorrow so I'll probably just do that while I'm at work. I somehow managed to NOT put off all my shopping until the last minute this year, but I'm slacking on wrapping stuff.
