  1. After seeing the ticket prices I've decided to sit out. Damn. Thankfully, I saw a few of these tracks played live with all involved But it was a long time ago. Getting old sucks...
  2. Love it! I have a pair of 807v's a d really like them. Love your setup!
  3. That can be your lIttle secret. I won't tell anyone.
  4. I promise I'll never disagree with you again oh maker of tastes. OH god of all that is great and worthy of my money. Please forgive me. Please tell humble old me what i should be buying. I really must know.
  5. Or maybe your ignorance has you dismissing things without giving them a chance?
  6. After reading this I'm going to pick it up. I'm a casual Dylan fan at best. But you've sold me on it. Thanks!
  7. I agree. Not their best, but good in my opinion. Head Carrier rings very close to Surfer Rosa. First day buyer.
  8. If you haven't streamed the album you're missing out.
  9. Absolutely, and 10-15 years ago I would have really really dug this. I may still pick this up. I like the medlodiousnessess
  10. There's a lot to like here. Very Sun Bather era Deafheaven ( I spelled that wrong). The vocals don't do it for me but musically its very interesting and melodic. Its probably me getting old....
  11. The Mission have a new album coming 30 September. I haven't seen anything on VC about it so I thought I'd post. new video:
  12. One of my all time favorite ambient albums of all time is Thom Brennan's "Strange Paradise". Its pretty conventional but a joy to fall asleep to. I self prodiced a tribal ambient album in 2003 that I've long wanted to press on vinyl. I figure in sold 200-300 cd's back then so I don't know if I'd recoup my money. I'd feel pretty proud to have my own album on vinyl though....those were good days for me....
  13. I'll be picking this up. I haven't been in a BJM mood lately but they usually always deliver. Thanks!
  14. I see my post was reported too. OK guys, you win.
  15. Nope. I came to see about finding some new shoegaze bands that I hadn't heard of. I hadn't listened to any in a while and was playing some "classic" shoegaze records and decided to inquire about new bands. The bands I had read about here are all about the classic sound, thus I made it a point to ask about NEW bands who are doing NEW things with the genre. Unfortunately, the prevailing thinking is that shoegaze is what it is and should never be anything else. Which is ignorant. And for all your smugness, you've not mentioned a single new band. As for me name dropping albums that are a few decades old, name a recent one. Name a new band who isn't considered shoegaze but flirts with its elements. I'm listening....
  16. I've listened to more than a dozen bands in the last week or two who I read about in this very thread. None were bad or unlistenable or anything. It's that they all stay tight to the formula that's been made by the classic bands. Which for me is boring. several bands have flirted with 'gaze to excellent effect: M83's early albums, Catherine Wheel'a Chrome, Curve's Cuckoo, hell Smashing Pumpkins even used some 'gaze elements yet didn't sound like MBV or Slowdive. Imagine that. If "the scene" means regurgitating itself forever, then yeah, I guess I am over it. Seems odd to me but what do I know.
  17. So, by your logic, if one is a shoegaze fan, one should buy Loveless recreated by another band three times a year forever? no thanks. I was around when those original bands were still playing and putting out records so maybe I'm not as accustomed to homogenized music. Who knows.
  18. I disagree. Why buy records for new bands just regurgitating bands I already have records for?
  19. Thanks. What in referring to is that it seems to me that most showgaze is either a "Slowdive" band or a "MBV" band. With only a few exceptions I haven't heard any bands that take the trademarks of showgaze and make something new with it. As I said, I liked Rev Rev Rev but it's just more MBV style music. It's just taking the Kevin Shields formula and recreating it. Ive liked all the various bands I've read in this thread, don't get me wrong. But it's pretty much all just a new version of an old formula. So my question was more to the effect of: who is moving the genre forward? Who is expanding on the sound and technique?
  20. I read about Rev Rev Rev here in this thread. Not bad but very MBV. They have K SHields strumming with the whammy bar down pat. While its not bad, its a rehash in my eyes.
  21. I learned of some interesting bands in this thread. And while I consider myself a fan of the genre, I feel complete led to remark that it's all a rehash of old stuff. The Last band I heard that really dazzled me was cheatahs who played at my neighborhood record store for RSD a few years ago. They aren't the most original but the songs are well crafted. Suggestions on bands pushing Shoegaze forward?
