  1. I doubt you'll see prices go down.....most of that is major-label greed....also, a lot of the hold up isn't necessarily the presses themselves as much as the cutting of the masters and plating process

There is certainly a bit of a bottleneck in the process when it comes to plating, but I assure you that the problem is still at the plant in terms of production.

For instance, you can get tests for a release in a few weeks, but then it still takes 6+ months to get the finished product. It is the same plates that they had to use for the tests, so the delay happens at the plant.

Also, lack of communication/customer service, etc. The plant has you by the balls, so they don't care to make you happy.

  2. The pessimism is ridiculous. The reasons the 2012 or 13 shows didn't work, 1. Omar lost his mother. 2. There was some bad blood still 3. they did it for the money.

They didn't even do a tour out of Texas, that's how failed that reunion was. No one asked them to do this, no one paid for this. Cedric and Omar had a fight but then reunited as newer version of Mars Volta as Antemasque and that sounded better than the last couple of Mars Volta albums.

I feeling that they're renengerized, not forcing anything and having fun and that's why this album/tour will be fun.

    Logic shmogic

No one can properly refute this because what everyone is actually trying to say is:

"I'm upset because it won't sound EXACTLY like RoC. The band members evolved and I didn't."

  3. There is a huge fucking difference between one of the worlds biggest hardware chains and Hopeless Records you doofus.

Uhhhh, except that isn't true at all in this case. Most labels do not advertise test pressings as being for sale, but are likely very happy to work out a deal with anyone interested, or pass the email onto the members of the band if they do not have them (and then it's real likely they'd be stoked to offload some junk that's collecting dust for some $$$).

The idea of anybody working at a record label (no matter the size of the label, or position of the employee) being shitty about someone who is clearly a fan/supporter reaching out to them is B O N K E R S.

Sure thing, friend. I look forward to all of your posts in the test press threads boasting about how you scored them by randomly soliciting someone from a label having never talked to them before.

    Cheers!

  4. I assure you that - while it may not have been difficult or time consuming - Erin hated having to even delete those emails. If a company doesn't offer to sell something, then it's generally not for sale!

You wouldn't email the VP of Operations of fucking Lowes because you wanted to buy a rake that wasn't on the website because that is 100% absurd.

I am not intending to shit on anyone because even Juan reached out (and I <3 Juan immensely), but like someone else said: if 5 people posted it, 20 people emailed her. I am also an anal retentive bastard who keeps his inbox completely empty/organized and between work, label and personal emails I field an insane amount of messages each day, so the thought of 20 useless ones bums me out.

  5. Pressing plants don't actually tell you WHY they're fucking you. They just say "LOLOLOLOL you already paid us at least 75% of the pressing costs, so just wait it out."

We only sort of knew about the Beatles messing everything up, I doubt someone emailed Deathwish to specifically say so.

That being said, it's just not cool for labels to do preorders anymore. Those days are gone and there needs to be a better model about gauging consumer response, ordering appropriate quantities and then - in turn - getting the item out in a timely manner.

THAT being said, I don't have any solutions here. Just whining. Ha!
