  1. Also going with a classic, but the first Simple Minds album, Life in a Day, is weirdly sounding super fresh to me. Upon first listen, I thought the album was released within a year or so ago, and, nah, '79 mate! It's got the fun and energy of a Sparks album mixed up with some glam, classic rock elements and god damn it's just a fun album.

Also Talk Talk Colour of Spring is a decent one to get stuck into when I need a break from current stuff.

I keep seeing Big Scary Monsters associated with this release but there’s nothing on their website. Did I miss it? 😭

Nah, some company called Plastic Head stocked it instead: https://www.plastichead.com/pool-kids-pool-kids-vinyl-lp-sl100lp

Just received my LP the other day so jobs a good'un!

EDIT: Looks like there is a BSM pressing coming 7th April according to this site https://headrecords.co.uk/pop/pool-kids--pool-kids/p-bsm333v and https://www.propermusic.com/bsm333v-pool-kids.html

Try out Drift yet?  They usually have Dinked editions.  I preordered the new Deathcrash through them the other week.

Not yet! For some weird reason I got the impression they were pick-up only (maybe they were pre-lockdown days, else I'm confusing them with another shop), but thanks for the heads-up, will give them a try.

This is sweet, very different. Looks like they have a Dinked edition floating around as well! So many different UK shops to choose from though. Banquet always seems to be decently reliable. Any suggestions on good shops that ship internationally and pack records solidly?

Was about to suggest Norman Records, but they're sadly sold out of the Dinked Edition (I think I grabbed the last one from them, sorry). Norman do the most rock solid mailers for their orders. Banquet is always a good shout too.

  5. I like how Spartan experiment on making cool, unique packages for their releases. Like the Reader zoetrope release - such a small band to be taking a dip on making something different with, but glad to see it's sold out (and too right, it's a great album). Anyway, will check this out, sounds great and I like the idea of the handpoured wax and reasonably priced in this economy?!

  6. A bit late to this and apologies if it's been mentioned here already but I am fully 100% into this GIFT debut, absolutely fucks. Got a sort of Toy vibe from some of the jams on this. Healthy doses of physc, kraut, dream-pop and noise. Just good, else i wouldn't be hyping it.

Volta Do Mar's "At The Speed Of Light Or Day" got a vinyl press. Sans a few tracks. The run is 300. It's bandcamp Friday so thought I'd throw it up. I talked to one of the guys in Volta Do Mar to see if they will have copies to sell in the USA and it was confirmed that they were going to get some but werent sure when.

HOLY SHIT listened to the hell out of this during uni, thanks so much for posting.
