  1. from my recollection of the teachings i received during primary school courses in volgograd on american politics and socioeconomic theory, some undocumented migrants and nonresident aliens in the USA do legally acquire an individual taxpayer identification number and pay taxes. in some instances they "borrow" someone else's social security number or forge their own social security card in order to complete a Form I-9 to be eligible for lawful employment. however, it's also possible that undocumented migrants, if earnings are under a certain threshold, receive more from a tax refund, through tax credits and/or fraudulent reporting, than they initially paid into the system. no one really knows for sure, because the american government is being really shady in their transparency with their data that applies to these situations. it's beneficial for the government to offer little transparency in this matter because certain taxes, like FICA (social security + medicare), are non-refundable and are very much needed to support the baby boomers who were told they could count on the money they paid into the system being there for them when they retired from the workforce at age 62. in addition, if earnings are below a certain threshold for undocumented migrants, them and their families (if living with them in the USA) are eligible to receive health plans on the exchange largely subsidized by the government and healthier, younger americans who are now paying higher premiums. so even if @stl_ben is correct that the government receives $11 billion from undocumented migrants and nonresident aliens each year, it's very difficult to pinpoint if that number is what they should be collecting, how that money is then specifically distributed, and then determine if the government is operating at a net loss or a net gain with all things considered.
  2. sucks that you haven't heard back. but on a side note, i find it kind of amusing that a user who spelled anonymous wrong in their user name made a typo in their shipping address.
  3. ding threshold. i like it. but it can be a helluva ding and still be VG+. even the nerds over at the Record Collectors Guild agree: Very Good Plus (VG+) Generally worth 50 percent of the Near Mint value. A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable. i mean, hell. an LP cover can have a fucking hole in it and still be VG+.
  4. crazy ass germans. but seriously, a VG+ grading for corner dings is accurate. if the kraut wasn't ok with a VG+ jacket, then he shouldn't have purchased a record listed with a VG+ jacket.
  5. i applied to immigrate to canada on their website and they told me no.
  6. exactly. a bad corner ding can bring the grade of a jacket from NM to VG+. this, of course, lowers the optimal resale value and, in turn, reduces the investment gains we could hope to achieve from our vinyl portfolios.
  7. not sure, but count me in. wouldn't mind grabbing a couple 7"s by the kinks either.
  8. for no reason? the guy literally joked about sexual assault! if i ever came across WAXXX in real life i'd be like
  9. gross. even the way his tiny hand grabs that pen is a microagression.
  10. dude. i agreed with 2 other users who felt the same way about this album (migration) being lackluster. i don't think it's as good as north borders, black sands, or the flashlight and ten tigers EPs. why is it so hard for you to fathom that this is my actual opinion?
  11. i heard he received a 30 day suspension for abusive behavior. serves that piece of shit right. i literally hope he fucking burns.
  12. agreed. can't think of a reason i'd spin this when i can just spin north borders again.
  13. that's what i'd say too if i was trying to sell a run the jewels 3 test press.
  14. just wanted to have a little fun in the 48 page VNYL thread. i'm totally serious about my love for vinyl, notifying board members of my shipping confirmations, providing my feedback on the aesthetic quality of vinyl packaging, and dishing out some sweet scoops on limited edition pressings.
  15. for the twin peaks original score, are these from the same batch where everyone was complaining about the sound quality? or is this a new batch that should have better sound quality?
  16. shipping conf from bullmoose. at the original price $29.97, no sales tax, and free shipping. just hoping it sounds nice.
  17. i'm a board newbie. i wanted in on the VNYL thread action and my post required very minimal effort. chill bro, it's all good.
