  1. i've never seen any of matt's bands, but from comments i've seen they can get preachy from the stage, which seems to fit in w/ at least early propagandhi (although both times i saw them they just ripped and didn't have much if any of that)...and they have their whole gender equality schtick so i wasn't too surprised they were on tour w/ prop and war on women...but, yea, they sure don't have the metal riffage like modern prop and war on women do...
  2. The Rock might have been the first 'modern' movie (way past vinyl heyday but long before 'resurgence') I remember where record collecting was mentioned in a non-record store movie as a pointed thing...record collecting was a pretty low point when that movie came out...
  3. now that is true...the exception to the rule haha
  4. so, has anyone else noticed how every other show or movie (or like EVERY one), has a turntable and records in it now? (the last several years). is there a list somewhere of every movie that has vinyl/turntables featured? it just seems like i see it now in EVERYTHING...from star trek (reboot)...to...the one i love...to...transcendence... even that jason staham hitman movie the mechanic had a major plot point around his pro-ject TT blowing up. /spoilers. i can't think of anymore off the top of my head, but i keep noticing it a ton... i don't think there was a time when there were such prominence or plot or character points about people putting in an 8 track, cassette, or god forbid a CD. i'm sure there are exceptions. i guess movies w/ boom boxes featured were around a lot in the 80s. (star trek V: save the whales) EDIT: Movies/shows mentioned in this thread: Interesting, as I expected, seems like last 5 years has the bulk of the list... <1960s/1970s/80s (where you'd expect to see vinyl) flintstones (1960) addams family (1964) munsters (1964) a clockwork orange (1971) simpsons (1989) freaks & geeks (1999, set in 80-81) almost famous (2000, set in 70s) 1990s the rock (1996) jackie brown (1997) 2000s tomb raider (2001) 8 mile (2002) house, m.d. (2004) high fidelity (2000) malcolm in the middle (2000) 25th hour (2002) shaun of the dead (2004) modern family (2009) star trek (2009) whip it (2009) 2010s adventure time (2010) suits (2011) the mechanic (2011) looper (2012) seeking a friend for the end of the world (2012) 21 jump street (2012) argo (2012) the lords of salem (2012) august:osage county (2013) oblivion (2013) only lovers left alive (2013) warm bodies (2013) secret life of walter mitty (2013) maron (2013) the one i love (2014) transcendence (2014)

  8. have you heard the sun, the moon, the stars? i have a test press of mind reader looking to get rid of... http://thesunthemoonthestars.bandcamp.com/album/mind-reader
  9. also, i've been spending quite a bit of time going through and listening to my original pressings vs reissues and 9 times out of 10 I have preferred the original to any "remastered" fancy pants reissue or whatever. when they are done right (AAA or a very good job w/ high res digital files like MOV does), they can be pretty great, but like i said, almost every time i have preferred the original press. my new policy is to only buy reissues when OG press is too hard to find and/or prohibitively expensive. will see how long i can keep w/ that policy because shiny, new!
  10. The original color of The Woods is nifty too, w/ the green and brown w/ the etched D side looking like a log. I'm cool w/ just having og One Beat and The Woods tho... but it is a reasonably priced box...
  11. One Beat but i never got on their bandwagon...i didn't like them much until that album and the last one.
  12. here's the link http://store.prostheticrecords.com/bands/corrosion-of-conformity

  16. they've really stopped trying w/ their cover art... are those dirt smudges on the chick's faces Photoshopped? the 7" isn't bad...but the last couple album covers have been weak even by their low standards...
  17. didnt they do KTM test presses like 10 years ago and it still hasn't come out
  18. no complaints w/ mine... i did a few KAB upgrades...the fluid dampener was really noticable improvement...
  19. i could never deal w/ viva la vinyl...but i think it is home to the cranky olds...
  20. i think a lot of the old dudes who would have this kind of stuff who used to be around VC have bailed to who knows where... viva la vinyl maybe...but i could never deal w/ that forum...
  21. ORG didn't do Bleach. The Sub Pop Anniversary re-release w/ the live disc sounds great to me though.
