  1. yea and i shoulda kept it longer until they were going for a grand hah... yet to come anywhere close to that find...
  2. nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the [average punk fan]
  3. btw, todd@recess confirmed there will be standard Recess-priced vinyl when it comes out
  4. i have the original and standard ORG. i haven't listened to them back-to-back in a while, but all the ORG stuff I have has been solid. I didn't bother spending the money on the 45rpm.
  5. it just occurred to me that i supported the shit out of that last album...i bought every vinyl variant (including the ludicrous /100 black in GATEFOLD sleeve oooh aahh)...plus the cd (i hadn't bought a CD in like a decade). i was actually more bummed about the metldown bc of the riverdales tho. those last 2 were pretty great, esp the last one. i think went crazy and all the variants of those too at one point. but, yea, anyway, i'm sure i'll pick up the rarest non-100$ variant and call it a day on this one when it comes out.
  6. i just did a shoot out for all the pressings i have recently... kill 'em all i prefer the original megaforce but i listen to the first Elektra pressing the most b/c it has am i evil/blitzkrieg the 45rpm 2xlp sounded super harsh to me. the 33rpm WB reissue sounded super dull to me (all the ones I have do, except the black album) i skipped ride the lightning vinyl bc i don't have the original Megaforce, or even the Elektra. i have the 33 and 45 WB reissues. i was never wowed by either for sure. i haven't listened to them recently w/ my latest vinyl setup. master of puppets i preferred the Elektra original. i had traded away my 45rpm 2xlp of that one but the 33 was, again, dull. My buddy who I traded it too has a pretty high-end setup and he said he thought the 45rpm sounded great. but, i wasn't impressed enough to keep it obviously and i've never seen too many good comments about it. justice i preferred the original pressing but the 45rpm 4xlp didn't sound too bad; it sounded pretty close to the original press I thought. that album needs a full-on remix a la the 2014 In Utero to make an alternate reality version w/ bass. that should be their next cash grab RSD release. just sayin'. i didn't even want to listen to the 33 WB version. i only made it through one side. overall though, i think the reissues are prob fine for casual listeners. i was kinda surprised that when i put on an original press it would just get me super pumped up on the album and just sounded rad. if you're a metallica fan and love the albums, i'd say search out the original presses. or at least the Elektra ones for KEM and RTL. i didn't have to break the bank for any of the ones i have either. altho i'm having a tough time finding a clean copy of Megaforce RTL for a reasonable price. they also switched from mobile fidelity to using bernie grundman at RTI for the black album. i suspect the production on the black album was also just a lot better than fleming rasmussen's work and the budget was likely a lot higher than the early stuff for recording. that album has grown on me in recent years. it's just not a thrash record obviously. i get in the mood to spin it every now and then. i have seen debate about the CDs apparently too. there was some 'secret' remastering done in mid 90s (they have EM Ventures on the back and/or RE-1 in the CD inner ring--some don't have EM Ventures on the back but are the 'secret' remasters). i dunno really how much diff it makes. i listened to the gold DCC remasters of Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning compared to the original Elektra CDs and they might've been slightly preferable but not nearly worth what it costs to get ahold of them now. and the UK 2xLP DMM versions mentioned are the 1987 (i think) Music for Nations release of MoP and RTL btw.
  7. television city dream/major label debut were a pretty great revitalizing releases for the SW sound IMO...i like bark like a dog but it always seemed like a riverdales hangover album to me. emo/teenage punks for hardcore fans only i think. wiggle has grown on me a lot over the years. my favorites are boogada, anthem, and brain...like most ppl i imagine...
  8. yea that goes for a bunch but the reissue actually sounds really good to me so i'm ok w/ that (i just have the 33 2xLP one).
  9. i'll buy it when/if it comes out on vinyl at regular price... no way i'm dropping 100$ on that...
  10. yea i would assume these are the same as the WB versions. the black album sounded good, but that's about it. i am trying to track down a megaforce ride the lightning. last one i want. i have OG of kill, puppets, and justice.
  11. how do you tell the 'original' pressing from the represses they did over the years... this one never seemed that hard to get ahold of... the bivouac/chesterfield king reissue sounds great though. i wish he'd have just put all the songs on one disc tho. or 2xlp if necessary. i wonder if all the bonus songs will be on the vinyl or just the cd.
  12. I had a ton of LTJ stuff at one time. I still have a laminated Pez Corps card with my name on it. I think that's what it is. I haven't looked at it in a while. I had a smoker's card and a bunch of random stuff like the logo stencil from the losing streak contest that i sold in a lot a long time ago. the only thing i have now is an original press pezcore LP most of that stuff should be listed in my sold tab in my collection link in the sig.
  13. I used splitters from monoprice to hook up my polk sub to my adcom power amp. works great. setup is in my sig.
  14. man, i'd keep the unmolested version but i'm not into signed stuff... you need to convince chiefwahoo that he doesn't like face to face anymore...
  15. This would prob be among the last records I'd part with. I don't even remember where I picked mine up, but it was a great deal when I did. Big Choice too. I did sell one of my color Dr Strange Don't Turn Away. I used to have the trans green and the purple marble, but just kept the purple marble. Those were really hard to come by as well. I had SO much LTJ (and RFTC) back in the day. Most of it as it came out and it was still a huge bitch. Good luck getting stuff now. Hah.
  16. i thought it was odd only bc it seems like they are the type of band that was going to get as 'big' as they were going to get on Fat. if they didn't blow up being on Fat...i don't really see them gaining much from being on Rise. guess we'll see. i won't be buying any 100$ bundles though...
  17. http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/102388-fs-fat-converge-gaslight-hwm-am-dave-hause-gallows-touche-crosses-more/ that guy has some AM
  18. yea i tried diff angles. i can see it upside down spinning in the goorves when i put a flashlight directly over it. but nothing appearing over the record. edit: ok, putting flashlight directly above it you can see it from the side. so prob just needs better direct overhead light than my office has near my turntable.
