  1. I am not much of an audiophile and don't have that great of an ear, but the mp3's are seriously brickwalled. I have not heard the vinyl or cd versions yet, but are they better? I would hope that i could rip higher kps mp3s from the CD. The songs posted on youtube didn't sound that bad, but ones i donwloaded from the Pledge music were muddy and distorted on the heavier parts.
  2. Saw it last night with no projector glitches. thoughts:
  3. In line. Stayed away from all spoliers. Amped. Got here >1h early and was still lined up way down the hallway. No one wants the front row at the imax.
  4. Purple Marble LPs, T-shirts, and quadrant prints are up in Baroness' webstore http://store.yourbaroness.com/ wish i had discretionary income.
  5. Jersey is much maligned. However, if keeps the shoobies out the better. There is already enough people as is. It the mostly densely populated state in the Union and most of the population is concentrated in 8 or 9 counties. That said, in an hour or two you can be at the shore, "mountains", pine barrens, rolling farmlands, NYC, Philly, etc. There's great pizza and bagels. What's not to love?
  6. Aneurysm - Veronica 7" Black Tower - The Secret Fire 12" Flesh Word - Wild Animals in my Life 12" G.L.O.S.S demo 7" Give - Sonic Bloom 12" Institute - Catharsis 12" Perspex Flesh - Ordered Image 12" Pleasure Leftists - The Woods of Heaven 12" Protester - No Identity 7" Really Red - Teaching You the Fear CDs Shopping - Why Choose 12" Sweet Jesus - You Destroy Yourself 12" Yuppicide - Revenge, Regret Repeat. Also new records by Baroness, Ceremony, Christian Mistress, Coliseum, Ghost, Murder by Death, No///se, Protomatyr and Red Death were pretty good too.
  7. Nothing against Snooki, airbursh t-shirts and polish water ice, but I think that's a tad bit north of sleezeside, judging by the center of the star to the point at Barnegat Inlet. I am going with Brick. Spent many a day at the Bricktown Skate Park. good times.
  8. As promised. We have a t-shirt with the outline of the great state of NJ, which incorrectly indicates the capital as Asbury Park, but we all know it's really Camden. Plus, the titular big book of Sudoku. Thanks to whomever you are...
  9. Picked up a ticket in IMAX 3D for Saturday night. The movie is going to cost more than the dinner. No Lando, but... Also....
  10. Opened two Amazon packages today expecting them to be something i ordered.... However, after some sleuthing (i.e., reading the included notes) I ascertained they were SS gifts. I will post pics later tonight.
  11. I like DF and have added a fair amount of release info and pics. It's a bummer that the pressing info section has been locked down for so long. There are usually far more pictures of all the different variants, etc. on DF. That said, there are orders of magnitude more pressing info on discogs of varying genres. Adding unique release entries can take a bit of time with all the track names and such. However, it is super easy to added new presses/variants by copying and pasting all the release info. You then just have add the ID to the Master Release page.
  12. Institute Collection. they rule. Demo 12" - Tan /70 Salt EP 12" - Limited Cover /200 Catharsis 12" - Yellow, LImited Cover /250 Giddy Boys 7" - Tour Test /100 Demo Tape 10 PM Local Live KVRX Tape
  13. not a white whale per se, but i just picked up Institue's "Giddy Boys" tour 7". Missed them on the tour. That said i would love to pick up Lifetime two-songs 7" on yellow. Not the best record, but i am a sucker for LIfetime.
  14. Moss Icon rule. If people dig Moss Icon, Hated, Greyhouse, Radio to Saturn, etc. (or 80s NYHC) they should clear their schedule and mosey over to blogged and quartered.
  15. At this exact moment off the top of my head... Gang of Four - Entertainment The Modern Lovers - S/T Mission of Burma - Singles, Calls and Marches/Forget Hot Water Music - Fuel for the Hate Game Ringworm - The Promise Cro-Mags - Age of Quarrel Joy Division - Still Life's Blood - Defiance Roky Erickson - The Evil One Bad Brains - Roir Sessions
  16. Greyhouse were one of the best. handsdown. After reading through this thread i started jamming some Lincoln, Native Nod and Policy of 3 in my office. Cubicle time machine.
  17. SyFy has made a TV adaptation of the The Expanse books. The 1st season shoud entail the 1st book, Leviathan Wakes. Episode 1 is now up, with the full series starting December 14th. I am not sure if i dig the young Holden and i doubt Avasarala will be allowed to swear up a storm, but hopefully this will be good. Probably not Battlestar good, but good enough. http://www.syfy.com/theexpanse
  18. On a related note, if people have their package in hand, i think it would be good to post that it arrived, even if they're waiting to open it later.
  19. Money clips rule. Sadly, i lost an old silver one, but picked up a bunch titanium ones for groomsmen gifts and kept for myself. It's light, strong and will hold it shape over time and I ended up having them engraved at Things Remembered. This should be the one i bought http://www.superiortitanium.com/Titanium_Money_Clip.html. The same company also makes clips and other things out of carbon fiber.
