  1. Lol, $20 for singles from an album greeted with a shrug. Pretty gross IMO.
  2. Hmmm.. that page has ATO Records listed. Combined with them specifying "professionally done".... might that be one of the versions ATO is going to post next week?
  3. Any tracks released from this other than the one on the Relapse page? On the fence still...
  4. .... so who here has spent 10 times longer thinking about which variant to buy vs. actually listening to the album?
  5. I definitely hesitated, but the album's been growing on me... and my LP collection is sorely lacking softer, more ambient records. So I took the plunge on the pink smoke. CF's prices are definitely creeping up though, at least for Oh Sees releases. EDIT: looks like pink smoke is sold out now.
  6. ... I got so caught up in the preorder madness that I just now realized I'm not a *huge* fan of this album. I really like all the acoustic guitar and synth elements, but I also think it's exhibit A for what King Gizz has been doing more and more, which is just singing the guitar melodies for the vocal parts. I've always found that a somewhat lazy songwriting technique, and it's all over this album. Like I said though, the sound and feel of the album is really cool.
  7. Anyone have any thoughts on the LP remastering quality, or is that discussion going on in another thread somewhere?
  8. Not much more than the rest of their variants that cause fans to buy like 4 different versions.... That said, it's been fun seeing who is putting out what, with plenty of crazy stuff still to come, I'm sure.
  9. Interested in the VC version for sure, just want some more details before plunking down the cash.
  10. If you would've told me when this album was released that a $200 reissue was one day going to be available, and that people were actually buying it.... well, I'd be way more surprised if you also told me that Donald Trump would be president in the same year, and that would make this seem a lot less outrageous, but still.
  11. I agree that album is not great. Quasi-metal for people who don't listen to metal, and tons of annoying voiceovers that are mixed WAY too loud. I'm not a Gizzard superfan, but I do love Mind Fuzz and Quarters. Maybe give those a shot?
  12. My copy of Mule Variations sounds great, don't see the need for a remaster. I'm curious what they've done with Real Gone. It's a rough sounding record, intentionally obviously, but I also think it sounds great. Ribot's guitar on some of those tracks has an incredible in-the-room-with-you tone.
  13. Not normally a flipper but I bought an extra copy of the smoke variant last time they had them in stock hoping to sell it for a decent price... doh! That was a super fast restock. Can't blame CF though, this thing is a fast seller.
  14. You don't want to hear Northlane's (?) timely cover of Anthem for the Year 2000?
  15. Interesting info from someone who was around, thanks man. I've also heard that Brent Oberlin was kind of considered a jerk? If true, that probably didn't help their reputation in the scene. Did you ever check out his band Cosmonaut? I see on discogs that their album finally came out in 2015, but I haven't heard it.
  16. Glad you dig it, and that other people here like Thought Industry! They're one of those bands where I feel like... bad for them, that they never got the attention they deserve.
  17. The Thought Industry's Short Wave on a Cold Day (2001). Supremely underrated band from Kalamazoo, Michigan. They were on Metal Blade for almost their entire career, despite the fact that their last few albums were in no way metal. Metal Blade didnt know what to do with them. They started in the late 80s playing super technical, out there stuff, like a more metal Mr. Bungle. Dillinger Escape Plan always sounded like a less creative Thought Industry, to my ears. This album is closer to indie rock than metal. 75+ minutes, many songs that bleed unto each other, and stream-of-consciousness lyrics that demand to be printed on a big vinyl insert. The best album no one's ever heard of. Check out Kiss Judy Fly, Alien and Pure, and Burning Coal with Margaret.
  18. Got mine today and it looks great. cannot confirm how the remastering sounds, will have to wait until tomorrow. And 13960 was low enough for the color version, if anyone's nervous about where the cut-off is.
  19. Good to know! I'll probably wait a day or two to follow up but I'm getting pretty antsy as well
  20. This is clearly a very delicately, painstakingly composed album.... But yeah, sometimes I just want them let loose. Overall a really good album though.
  21. Anyone gotten Slaughterhouse yet, or shipping confirmation? I'm on pins and needles over here.
  22. For me anyway, this is a rare back-loaded album. The last 4 tracks are easily my favorite and none of the other 10 really come close.
  23. Yep, same situation for me. I emailed Matt on Saturday and haven't gotten a response.... then I noticed that in the last newsletter, he said he was leaving for tour on the 9th and that any orders on or after 9/9 wouldn't go out until October. I definitely ordered mine on the 8th, but maybe he got pressed for time and didn't actually get them shipped? What day did you order yours?
  24. Half agree, strangely... about half of TTD does *nothing* for me, but the other half I love. SadioWitch and Funeral of Your Mind in particular are two of my favorite EW tracks.
