I'm ordering this. I loved this comp when I was a kid (insert nostalgia joke). Marilyn Manson, Rancid, Geeen Day, Offspring, and Tom Waits are all great covers. 

If, for some reason, you're browsing this thread and don't know who Mare was, or you just don't own their one and only record, fucking buy it.
 
It's one of my favorite EPs ever, they couldn't possibly have been a more criminally underrated band.
 
Just buy it, don't even listen to it first. If you're a fan of Hydra Head you'll like it.

According a post on the Hold Steady board, these are coming out Nov. 11th.

I uses a razorblade in case I screw up I just end up slitting my wrists.

Usually I use a knife, but instead of opening the record I insert it into my heart and die.

New song is really good, and the track listing for this is beyond great. I'm not usually a fan of "best of" records, but I might have to snag a copy of this one...

I was hoping it was a box set too, though.

They've got them, $40. I got it on the light pink/dark pink inside out. I'm not sure if that's the only color they've got with them or not though.

So, I did something with this record that I've never done in all my years of collecting.

A couple days ago, when people started posting that they had received their copies, and posting pictures and whatnot, I was thinking "Hm, I really should get around to ordering a copy for myself." So, I hopped on the Sargent House merch site to grab one, and when I realized that all the variants were still available, I decided to wait a couple days until I got paid and I would probably order it this weekend. Well, lo and behold, there was my copy waiting for me in my apartment complex's office later that same day.

So, I did something with this record that I've never done in all my years of collecting.

150g vinyl in aesthetically perfect no lip sleeves.

I feel like Colors is their best record, although The Silent Circus is my favorite. I find The Great Misdirect and everything since borderline unlistenable.
 
Every album from their self titled to Colors was a massive progression in their songwriting, and raw abilities, but I feel like they're just rehashing the same general ideas now, although, really, where else could they go after Colors?
 
I'd love to see them go back to something like The Silent Circus/Alaska, where they favor individual songs over a giant, over-arching album-long epic.

I feel like Colors is their best record, although The Silent Circus is my favorite. I find The Great Misdirect and everything since borderline unlistenable.
