Well I just got transfered around through about 5 different people, but I got someone who said they checked the inventory and that it IS the colored set and also said they had 36 in stock. So I would say order it and if it is the black set just return it.

Thanks for posting the picture, I'll be showing this to the people in charge of this. This is unacceptable. Pm me your order number and info and I'll make sure they take care of you right away. Not here to argue but packaging and handling isn't generally substandard, I've seen a few issues posted in here recently but I think those issues get blown out of proportion. I will make sure they fix this. I can't believe they put your records in a bag.
The inventory isn't really inconsistent, not every store gets every release. It's always been like that.

Just a heads up, but at Amazon UK this box set has now been reduced to 106.46GBP plus free shipping in the UK.  For those in the US, VAT is removed and even with normal Amazon international shipping, it comes out to 91.80GBP or roughly $147.11.  Pretty good deal all around.
