  1. Great bumps. So, neat story. I bought a large collection summer of 2019. 1,100 LP's. It was a great score. Threw out 300 because they were mildewed or moldy. Kept the best 150 or so. Sold off the remaining  650 in bulk for like $300 because it was junk, worth nothing or just stuff I thought I could flip or wanted to keep. This Pharaoh Sanders album was in there:

I like Pharaoh but the latter stuff is so free that it sometimes loses my attention. But this song, Let Us Go Into The House of the Lord just stuck with me. My copy was VG- . Wasn't great. Sold it on Discogs and played it one last time. It bothered me that the song I liked was so noisy. As soon as I sold it off, I immediately regretted it. I was kind of hoping the buyer would want to return it. So when he posted positive feedback, I went right back on Discogs and bought a better copy for nearly the same price I sold it at. Haha. This song, man. FUCK! Magical.

    Best deals/best sales:

--Original presses of Pearl Jam's Ten and Garbage's debut for $12 each, which I don't plan to sell.

--The 2008 press of Sara Barielles' Little Voice for $10 at a record show, before she did a repress... Put it up for $200 on Discogs a day later and it sold within hours. Probably could've priced it higher.

--The first Whiskeytown 7" (Angels EP) and their split 7" with Neko Case... Paid $2 apiece back in the 90s, sold them some years back (before Ryan got cancelled) for $200 each.

--And very old-school, but I grabbed the definitive AAA press of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road for just $25 from a nice guy on the Hoffman forum. It goes for a little more now:

Best sale is still probably be the Beatles Mono set.... Bought for $250, sold for $1750. I'm sitting on another one still sealed in the box, not sure when I'm gonna let it go.

I can't believe how much the mono box is going for. I want it now just so I don't have to keep buying the damn albums. But I can't pay the going rate. Want to trade for cooler albums? LOL

I actually thought you could still buy a decent copy for those prices. My copy is only vg, but it's deep groove and sounds great. That is the cool thing about those old Blue Notes.

High grade copies are easily $1,500 now. But looking at finished auctions, I guess it's easier to get a VG- one for a couple hundred. I never watch a copy because I know it will always sell for more than I want to pay.

  4. I joined DF, VC, and Discogs all in 2010. Wild ride, these past ten years.

I loved DF for the community. It felt as if everyone was older (as I was 29/30 then, it seemed like most people were around my age, had kids, careers, etc). It's not entirely accurate, of course; there were younger folk using the boards actively. But VC felt very young in comparison. I made a few real/fake internet friends via DF. Actually, I did meet a couple people via DF in real life, too. I also grew my collection a good bit because of buying/trading, and it was another outlet to sell. It was a great community.

I had my +/- 1,300 record collection customized on there. It always loaded easily on one FUCKING page on my phone (unlike having to scroll through a max of 250 items per page on Discogs). I could easily check my collection or want list. It was great. But then I didn't save it. So I have no recollection of what was or wasn't there. I've added about 500 items on to Discogs but the task is daunting and I'm lazy or preoccupied.

I won't add my stuff back there because at this point Discogs is the standard. But it would be great to have another board to check when I'm ... bored.

  6. I don't care about Shards. Won't listen to it, but I want a first press just to be a Zao nerd. Interested to hear this repress of Blood & Fire. Back in 2008, I was in grad school on my laptop when Blood & Fire went live. The black sold out in minutes then and I settled for another color. Eventually bought a tour press. Also got a black off ebay for $25 PPD in 20010-ish. Sold those for a lot of money when I needed money for bills. So that's what I'm aiming for tomorrow.
