Shut the fuck up, it's not up to you to decide how trans people will beat spread their message

We are probably supporting many miscreants unknowingly in the indie music scene; due diligence and one's conscience are the best we have.

If your enjoyment of an artist is determined by if that artist agrees with you on political and societal issues, you have a pretty thin grasp on what you do and do appreciate. The artist and their art is completely separate. Same reason I think it's ridiculous to hate Kanye West's music just because he acts like an ass on TV. Who cares?
Were you guys fans of Whirr specifically because of how trans-friendly they were? No? Why would their ignorance affect your opinion on the music? I can understand not wanting to support them if they're openly transphobic, but that doesn't even seem to be the case. In the least, I'm having a hard time seeing how it would affect how someone feels about Whirr music they've already purchased or enjoyed.
That being said, I also find the band to be somewhat shit. The one word that comes to mind is "derivative."
Not a fan, but still, WTF.
RFC has definitely dealt with the situation very well though.

Really? I'm glad you clarified, I would never have known what "sealed" meant otherwise.

eskimoswim got a reaction from icecream in Circa Survive Juturna 10 Year Anniversary
just because i don't have to buy it doesn't mean i can't criticize it. i've supported this band for a really long time. i'll say whatever the fuck i want about their overpriced VIP packages. its not like i'm losing sleep over it. i'm probably not even attending a show on this tour. it wasn't until after the BSN cycle that circa started coming up with dumb ways to charge a lot of money for things that aren't worth it. someone of you shelled out hundreds of dollars for that terrible "hand painted" variant of violet waves.
also, when and where did i say art should be free?

eskimoswim reacted to nelso330 in Ambient Related Releases (Drone, Field Recording, Neo-Classical, Experimental)
I am going to do a short run of posts centered around ambient Labels. I feel that most ambient/experimental labels are fairly consistent across releases. That being said, if you like 1 artist you are bound to like a few more on a given label. To help people out to find new artists I will post fairly regularly solid labels I really enjoy! To kick things off lets start with, THREE labels. Here we go!!! (also its pretty darn common among all these labels to find 1 artist releasing albums on the many different labels)
Hibernate ( http://hibernate-recs.co.uk) This UK label has put out many beautiful albums, primarily in CD format, but do have few vinyl releases. Key Artists include; Olan Mill, Ian Hawgood, Storm Noir, Field Rotation, Felicia Atkinson, Wil Bolton, Memory Drawings and Simon Bainton. Have a listen: https://hibernate.bandcamp.com/merch
Flau ( http://www.flau.jp/artists.html) The Japanese label is more diverse than most ambient teams. Venturing into fields such as dream-pop, electronic, classical, drones, ambient, and experimental. They rarely put out a bad album. Several Key Artists include: Cuushe, Part Timer, The Boats, Danny Norbury, SELA, Neon Cloud, Orla Wren, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma and Masayoshi Fujita
Listen for yourself: https://flau.bandcamp.com
Unknown Tone Records ( http://www.unknowntonerecords.com) A husband and wife run, Oklahoma based label that sticks to ambient, experimental and noise. You can find several amazing albums, however this label tends to have some albums that fall off the wagon a bit. Regardless there are several Key Artists such as; Sima Kim, Dylan Golden Aycock, Porya Hatami, Monolyth & Colbolt, Maps and Diagrams and Atlantis. Go open your ears at: https://unknowntonerecords.bandcamp.com
I hope you guys find some new tunes to enjoy...I want to keep this thread alive and healthy as its been, so anyone may feel free to leave feedback, questions or let us know an Album (or 2) you really enjoy related to the above!
...Happy Hunting...

Considering this will sound like shit using 20 year old plates, I'll stick with my 20 year old glow in the dark press that sounds like shit.

Some of HEAVEN have gone out, I'm putting the rest out over the next few days, have just been getting over pneumonia for the past week or so before I go back into shipping work.
The 2nd pressing of Ontario Gothic arrived here with the wrong jackets printed, we're just waiting on replacements for them before we start shipping them.
As for Swung from The Branches, it seems like the freight company that was in charge with delivering them has someone lost them?? I'm just trying to work through that fun little task now, but everything should be sorted out sortly.
Thanks everyone xo

eskimoswim got a reaction from Neanderthal in Pyramids - A Northern Meadow (Profound Lore)
you can get a digital copy on bandcamp now. i just did it and i've been listening all morning. i'm so glad the band took this direction. the first album was a little too crazy and all over the place. this one takes a little while to dissect, like all pyramids releases, but it flows so well.

eskimoswim got a reaction from Duff in New RX Bandits album
i'm pretty sure an abundance of emails all saying the same thing is just going to irritate her. especially ones implying that such a label may need a kickstarter to do such a thing. as much as i want a repress of this, i don't think reissuing a record from a band they no longer manage is high on their list of priorities. obviously, i can't speak for SH by any means. but i've followed the label closely for years and this is my best guess.

Never even knew about this one, 2002, anyone posted here yet? I did a search and did not see them even mentioned.
No vinyl, just a CD. 4 dreamy, shoegaze -with- a- splash- of- postrock tracks, 26 minutes total.

150 copies is insanely limited considering there is a much larger demand and it can actually cost more to press in more limited quantities. there are countless small labels who do 500-1000 copy pressings.

grabbed heaven and ontario gothic because i'm tired of missing out on these ridiculously limited pressings.

eskimoswim got a reaction from Visionbuilder in M83 - Saturdays = Youth
this is one of those artists who i'm glad i got into before people starting flipping records that were pressed in quantities of thousands for absurd prices. i'm pretty sure there was a big repress of his discography around 2009/2010 and i was able to pick them all up locally.
it sucks that people are asking that much though considering its not very limited

Hi everyone, Hector here from Memoranda. This board caught my attention after we received a surge of orders yesterday, I believe all directly from members of this community. I just wanted to thank you all for the kind words and the amazing response. To answer a few questions - yes we're still a band, we're actually pretty new - this 7" is our first and it was just released over the summer. We hope to start playing live shows in 2015 and it's my full intention to someday release a full-length with the band, how soon that is I have no idea... but hopefully the 7" will hold you over until then. Anyway, thank you again. I've already placed all your orders are in the mail. Let me know if you have any issues with the shipping. xoxo Happy New Year!

Aaron Harris wrote on FB that Panopticon RM vinyl was backed up, but spoke as a When, not If. I doubt he would respond to me if asked.
Haven't heard anything about WR.
re: Oceanic, I play the Clear RP, bought the /200 Green mainly for lust, but I do want to listen.
I immediatetly took the cardboard inners out but haven't cleaned the LPs yet -- but they will go into Disckeeper rounded bottoms, like all my others, and I will report back if any trouble getting the inner sleeves back in the jacket. It is a heavyweight chunk of paper product no doubt. I like heft, though
