  1. Oh, of course! EYEL was way lighter compared to EMM and BoW. People totally jumped ship, but I stuck around though. I dug the album. I believe it pulled from the other side of their influences. I've always felt that MDAM were like a hybrid between Hot Water Music and Jimmy Eat World. I think EYEL pulled more from the latter this time around. I don't think Rise gave them enough reach. Warped Tour didn't do much for them either. I shot one of their sets and people were a little blank, especially since they went on so early. That kind of scheduling is critical in broadening your audience. Hardly anyone is on site at 11. But yeah, people were hoping for another EMM so the album was a buzzkill in comparison. Very little promotion from the band as well. Oh well, sometimes you need to cull the masses. I'm staying optimistic for the new album. Both songs were okay. I hope they fit better once I can listen to the full album. Hope they're generous with the west coast shows too. I'd like to shoot for the band while they're in town. Oh yeah, I forgot, I posted on their instagram about media mail for simple LP orders, including posters that can be folded. I hope they notice haha. It's 2015. Media mail or fuck off.
  2. I think Rise has been hurting MDAM. I don't think bands benefit from them unless they have larger followings, like Hot Water Music or The Bouncing Souls, and even then, I feel bands on that label just fade away. It could just be me. Let me know what you all think. They can really benefit from a label change. I can strangely see them on No Sleep. That label fell off my radar, but the fit feels right.
  3. The screw up that changed EYEL from a tri color to a boring gray was a huge disappointment. In this case, I'm just going for the red. I'm not feeling that shipping price though. Gonna wait. I have time.
  4. I've posted on here before, but I'll post again for new readers. @javalivephotos Documentary photography. Shows and candid shots, and other things too. I've been a bit more active since I started digging through my archives and editing/posting photos from years back that I never got around to.
  5. There is no easy way to describe this band. One release may hook you in from the start and another may completely alienate you. They also release material often enough to keep them on your radar forever. They've become one of my favorite bands over the last year. If you're looking for a starting point, go for their Island 7"s or their latest LP, Try Me. I've been listening to Grinderman. Blues rock with fucking bite. I've been curious about Nick Cave for a while and found this little gem that he put out apart from his work with the Bad Seeds. "No Pussy Blues" is a bitchin track. Blacklisted too. They just had their second LP, Heavier Than Heaven, Lonelier Than God, go through a deluxe treatment and has also gone into another regular pressing. I think it's their best work. Extremely personal. Heavy, but catchy.
  6. The Art of Simple Food by Alice Waters seems like a good read. It's a perfect beginners cookbook and a good way for experienced cooks to revisit the basics. I also have Gordon Ramsay's Home Cooking because Gordon Ramsay. Ha. I've been meaning to pick up a few more but I'm focusing on specific foods now. The Complete Chile Pepper Book by Dave D and Tea by Kevin G are on the priority list right now. I've been seriously considering The Drunken Botanist. With background in horticulture, I think that book would be entertaining.
  7. Does anyone here ever get curious about the tea? I've been wanting that Magnolia Oolong but when I get to shipping I go...
  8. I'm not sure if I mentioned this here, but I'm letting go of my J.Bannon Game of Thrones print. If anyone is interested, PM me.
  9. I'm pretty sure Rated R is not hard to find. I saw like 15 of them at Amoeba a month ago.
  10. I don't think there was a reason for this collection to exist at all. The only thing I dig about it is Sinclair's work. He never disappoints.
  11. Anyone looking for tickets to the December 13th show in LA? I've got 4 to spare. A nice Christmas gift kind of went to shit so PM me if you're interested.
  12. EOAY Europeans 7" back in stock at Deathwish. http://store.deathwishinc.com/product/BTR008v.html Clear vinyl.
  13. I had plans to frame it someday and use it as a wall piece near a succulent garden, but large bills call for tough cuts.
  14. I'm selling my Heart & Will print if anyone is interested. I really don't want to let go of it, but I got hit with some expensive car repair costs this morning and my job alone won't cut it, on top of other expenses I have going on. PM me if you're interested.
