I don't see the appeal of this and can't believe so many of you wasted money on such a thing.

 

Completely understand why you would feel this way. I like the concept and the way it progressively gets out of sync and experimental. It also has a hazy dream quality that makes me feel like I am shifting in and out of the timeline(no, not smoking while listening). I'm looking forward to experiencing this as it spins on my turntable. Though, I can see why anybody would feel like this whole thing is stupid.

I clearly made an error in the title. Everyone has realized it was an error, and nowhere does anything official say it is out of 800.

Why does that conversation still exist?

As far as what I know, from what they posted on Facebook was that people had to e-mail them for some sort of RSVP e-mail back. I know it wasn't meant to be public for sale on the website at all. Here is what they wrote on Facebook. "In The Red Recordings We will have more deluxe LPs on November 11th. Please email us directly at [email protected] if you're interested. And, yes, they'll be available to European customers."

And then those who e-mailed would've been on the list of 200 or however many more they were re-pressing. 

 

Alright. I know it was nuts to just send it out there, but I guess I will get a record or a refund. I definitely was not trying to oust anyone on a list, I was just going on the very little info that I had. Maybe I will write them in a day or so and see.

I know it's only been a couple days, but did anyone who sent the $50 on this round of deluxe hear anything back yet? I feel like a just rolled the dice and sent out $50 hoping that I will actually get one. All I have now is a paypal receipt.

Reporting in with seam split issue here as well. If only it was shipped outside of the jacket. If only.

 

Yep, got mine and same split. I don't know why it bugs me, but it does. The record wasn't in cello, so all they had to do was pull it out and no problems.

I actually didnt expect that many more people to message me. If I have already messaged you about sending the money then go ahead and send it but if not then I'm gonna have to cut it off there. I dont have enough money to buy any more in my bank account. Sorry guys. I'll keep everyone posted throughout the day about whats going on.

I feel like it would be kind of silly to do an unlimited pressing of something like this which would surely only have a niche market, but then again who knows? It is, admittedly, just as likely that it's been shut down for legal reasons.

 

I don't know how legal this all is, but he mentioned doing it in interviews a long time ago. It is not like he is doing this on the dl. Maybe the big bad record company is letting it slide just to generate press? Either way, I wrote him again to ask(pester) about pressing info. Still waiting for a response, though I'm sure he has a lot of people bugging him right now.

I usually buy my daptone releases on ebreggae.com. They end up carrying most of the daptone catalog, and they've always been super reasonable with shipping, with many options. Aside from that, they always have cool soul and reggae records worth picking up, they pack their shit like a champ and have awesome customer service. I've been buying from them for well over 10 years. If you don't mind waiting, and don't care about the pre order colored vinyl, I'd check it out there.

 

I was planning on just buying it at the show, since that is on the calendar. I look forward to getting the special colored record though. i don't remember Daptone ever doing limited colored editions?

Got home today and the wife ended up buying this. I guess the household takes a hit for shipping. Looking forward to hearing this and seeing them live.

Got Hollow Sunshine and am really digging it. It's nice when you take a chance on something and it actually turns out to surprise you how good it is. I have failed many times at this game, but in this case it's a win.

I will go with Guided By Voices, Built To Spill, The Jesus and Marychain, with a little wooziness of My Bloody Valentine.

I have no doubt that some copies have issues. But with how many people in here complain about skipping in various releases, it's an honest question.

 

I have two copies, one that skips and one that doesn't. It doesn't have anything to do with turntable settings. There are bad copies out there and it sucks that people have to eat it or try to get another copy. I doubt adjusting their anti-skate it going to remedy it.

For those people with skipping problems, what are the grams on your tonearm? Is it correct for your cartridge? Do you have anti skating?

Actually I have a Debut Carbon with the 2M Red and an Acryl-It.

Although the price was a bit high compared to Mother Love Bone which was more limited, I really like that Sound Stage allows me to request them open my LPs and ship the records outside the jackets. I forgot with Mother Love Bone to make the request and had wicked seam splits despite the excellent packaging. I didn't forget with Temple of the Dog!

 

Right when I read this I knew I was going to get splits and I did. Must remember next time. Damn, this record sounds REALLY good! This is going to spend a lot of time on my table.
