  1. I was in the midst of that nonsense...it got exhausting and frustrating...esp. when Marvel and DC started milking it. It got me out of reading and collecting comic books. Yeah, I got caught up in that whole mess. I mostly read the smaller companies like Image. It was crazy that I'd pick up a variant copy of Angela for cover price and already it was worth $35. I liked reading them though, so I kept it. Now, I could get maybe $2 for it and don't really read it anymore. Variant covers did kill the comic industry and I do have the fear that it will kill the vinyl industry, but only time will tell. All I know is that even if I have a ridiculous amount of variant copies of the same American Nightmare record at least I can spin the shit out of it and then just listen to the other copies. I am trying to reign in my variant buying though. Anyone want to buy some Lady Death or Cry for Dawn comics?
  2. This needs to be real. There are plenty of people who would buy it.
  3. First pressing info: First pressing details: 100 Pink / White Marble Vinyl 300 Solid White Vinyl 1600 Solid Black Vinyl Second pressing already in the works! http://www.themurdercitydevils.com/
  4. Sooo much great soul/funk from the 70's, many already mentioned. Some of my favs: From James Brown's Empire- The JB's Lyn Collins Bobby Byrd Maceo Parker I second Graham Central Station featuring Larry Graham from Sly and the Family Stone Curtis Mayfield The Pharoahs Kool and the Gang- self titled and Wild and Peaceful Earth Wind and Fire- self titled and All I Need Is Love, so much funkier than later stuff Meters- yeah any Midnight Movers Kaygees Savage OST by Don Julian Voices of East Harlem Then if you want to move over into funky soul jazz it could get even trickier for your wallet. Rusty Bryant-Fire Eater Chester Thompson- Powerhouse Deiter Reith= KNockout Nucleus- any damn thing you can afford, though Snakehips Etcetera can be found for somewhat reasonable Jimmy Smith- Root Down(see Beastie Boys) Ivan Boogaloo Jones- any Idris Muhammed- Black Rythym Revolution Wlodek Gulgowski- Soundcheck AND last, the James Brown of Africa: Fela Kuti- ANYTHING
  5. Some more information about specifically what can happen if you choose to buy rather than adopt. http://members.petfinder.org/~FL639/shelter_letter.html
  6. and also i agree with this guy. brand damn new puppy = clean slate. our last experience with animal adoption ended in getting a horribly disobedient beagle, who drug the trash out in the living room, destroyed stuffed animals, etc. plus having all the papers directly from the breeder is a nice thing. we can breed him/show him/etc. $$$$. so....you didn't properly train your last dog, but you got another one for a 'clean slate'? if a dog is disobedient, 95% of the time, it's the owners fault, not the dogs. every dog is trainable, some just take more work than others and a lot of people aren't willing to put the time or effort into it. and no offense, but i facepalm every time someone says they got a purebred dog and can breed it to make money now. EXACTLY! Dog's don't train themselves and people who sit around wondering why their dog isn't behaving sometimes need to look at what they are doing or not doing. Some dogs are definitely easier than others to train, but if you don't have the time or money to take training classes or read a book maybe you just shouldn't have a dog. Sorry, but buying a dog is just plain lame. I told my sister that and will tell anyone else who supports that "business" while plenty of great dogs and puppies("clean slate"?) are being put to death every day because someone decided to buy rather than adopt. If "papers" make you feel comfy, I guess there's not much else I can say to you without using a bunch of expletives. I have three shelter dogs and all of them are cool. Some took more work than others. One of them was barking crazily at me when I approached her at the pound. Then when she got out and we brought her home she became the damn sweetest dog I've known and you could feel her gratitude from being saved. Most people passed her by. None of my paperless mutts pee on my records and one of them enjoys American Nightmare.
  7. From the day I got my shipping confirmation they didn't actually take it to the PO for 10 days. So, they must be really backed up. Mine are now on their way and hopefully all of yours will get to you sometime soon.
  8. Got my shipping confirmation 10 days ago and I keep checking the tracking, but there is not update on if the PO even got it yet. I know sometimes it just shows up. I'm only concerned because it says it was shipped via first class mail, so it seems like it should have made it down to CA by now. Just waiting and hoping.
  9. FINALLY, got my lathe. My copy was accidently sent to the band, so I had them sign it to make it extra special. When is the regular edition coming out?
  10. I think that what the purple is? Seems like TL has some and the band will have some on tour. That's what I'm inferring from what it says on the TL site.
  11. The limited to 200 purple copies are up at Translation Loss. http://translationloss.com/site/home.php
  12. I wrote the guy and told him I would buy the tickets just to fuck with him. His name is Brian DeLuca.
  13. This guy is just plain awesome. He changes the name of the band in the ad. 14. Wow, that was fast. Looks like I'm not going. I don't like the reserved areas of the Warfield. Sound tends to be crappy up there.
  15. Yer killing me with the Germs 45s. I can't even afford one original, let alone two.
  16. Great bar- TIKI TI. Tiny bar with lots of character and good people. Order a Ray's Mistake and you will be drunk and happy. @controlthebleeding- I actually used to like Greco's. Those big greasy slices were always good after a night of boozing. I haven't been there in 20 years, so I can't say what it's like now.
  17. Thanks for the link. Went there and it looks like someone bought them as my order was going through. I don't even know how I missed that because I scoured the Sheath site many times. If anyone has any other leads a PM would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  18. Fuck yeah! Best band EVER. Hella surprised no one's mentioned Russian Circles. All their material is just supreme. Mogwai is also the shiiiiit; most of their albums have hints of vocals, but 'The Hawk is Howling' is one of my all time favorite instrumental albums. Last but not least, Jakob. They are, by far, one of my favorite bands doing this kind of music. EDIT: And Daturah! Lest ye not forget Daturah.... I used to frequent this blog for a while and found out about alot of good post rock I never would have found out about otherwise: http://thesirenssound.com Not all of it is post rock, but most of it is, and you can search, and find similar bands to what you search etc. I used to just get lost on their for hoooours. There's links to downloads for most too. And for the dude who hasn't checked out Caspian too much, they just updated the article on Caspian, with their newest live stuff, so they're the first article on there with all their shizz. THAT sirenssound is a great blog! Especially cool that there are all the download links. Lots of exploring to do there.
  19. Digging God Is An Astronaut now! http://youtu.be/34C41eEpM48
  20. Someone has got to have an extra or a neglected copy that they would be willing to sell? PM me with what ya got and a price. If it works we will get it done. If not, I promise not to call you a flipper or any other dolphin name...
  21. . Add soemthing to the discussion or finish your hamburger smart search guy. Thanks to everyone putting in their likes. I can't wait to check out all these bands!
  22. I have the Deadhorse on its way to me right now. Can't wait to get it. Good picks so far everyone. Keep them coming!
