A little harsh on Technics as they've produced at least 3 or 4 others that are worthy of admiration but yep pretty much spot on.

To say one brand produces great this or that is very wrong because without exception every big name manufacturer (and especially the far eastern ones just because of their prodigious output and life span) has produced complete and utter rubbish and absolute gems at some time in their lives.

Even the likes of Thorens and Linn are not immune to this. Thorens went through a long bad patch toward the very end of the TD160/166 where their later products were more than a little plastic and didn't really deserve a Thorens badge and Linn isn't a great example as they couldn't even manage to produce their own design of turntable until the Basik, the LP12 when originally sold was an Ariston RD11 with a Linn badge on it and has evolved from that with an ever unrealistic price tag ever since. Linn has also built some pretty woeful speakers and a lot of the electronics (amplification and CD players etc.) are average at their price point at best

I'm not a fan of Marantz turntables over any other but the current Clearaudio unit with a Marantz badge on it is pretty stunning for the money and a good few of the proper vintage output (before the wasteland of the B.P.C. years) are easily the equal of the direct competition at the time.

The only brands that haven't let at least one turkey out into the wild are those small obscure companies that don't just inhabit the very high end either made something great and didn't last long or made a few great products and didn't deviate from those.

    TL;DR

I apologize for bumping this thread, but I figured this was the most fitting page for this post. Somewhere on VC (I think this thread actually) someone posted about Amazon UK having copies of the RSD version of Coheed's Good Apollo. Well I ordered a copy and long story short it got lost in transit somewhere. Until about a week ago it actually showed up, pretty much ruined. They packaged it in a really thin package and the cover is all sorts of banged up. I haven't had a chance to play the records, It might be playable still. At this point I think it should go to a true fan of the band, because worse case it could just be used for display purposes (yea yea I know, but it's better than nothing). Here are some pics, if your interested in working something out just feel free to message me.

You have probably already worked this out, but the covers for all versions are exactly the same. You could just buy a black vinyl and swap the discs out.

Finally picked up a copy today. Record A/B is black, while the remaining two records are blue. Deadwax etchings are kinda confusing as each record for example says A2 one side, B2 the other. Shouldnt it be A1 and B2? Spinning now to make sure I didnt get any dupe sides.

No. The A, B,  etc signify the side. The 1,2 etc signify the cut. Optimal got the first cut, and the US pressing plant got the second (identical) cut. Except side E has 3 and 4. Probably because cuts 1 and 2 weren't acceptable for some reason.

yeah, jumping from $60 bookshelf speakers to $200 bookshelf speakers (new) is not going to help you "hear things a lot better"IMHO

Save more or try to hunt down a good deal on some used speakers

I kind of disagree. The jump in quality at the low end can be enormous. I'm sure there are some new $200 speakers that crush all sub $100 pairs easily. The biggest problem I can see would be with sound preferences. They may be better, but would the user like the sound?

Im sure the ELAC speakers would sound better than $60 Daytons. Polk (again, if you like the Polk sound) has their Monitor 60 floor standing speakers on sale places for around $100 each.

Finding some one well cared for used speakers would be your best bet and will yield the best results.

My my recommendation is to buy the 6.5" ELAC or the Polks from somewhere you can return them for any reason. Get them in your space and see if they are better. If not return them and continue saving.

It's finally time to replace my old 32" 720p TV from 2009. What TV is everyone using for gaming? I'm only looking for a 1080p TV around 40" (not interested in 4k). Looking for good picture quality, low input lag and a decent price. Any suggestions?

People's opinions are cool, but check this site out. They cover all aspects of the TV including videos showing the results of their tests. They also buy all the products off the self. No endorsements, advertisements, or "review models".

They also in depth reviews of headphones, as well.

Always looking for decent people to play with. Skill is less important to me as I'm not great at most games anymore. GT: Kannibal. I usually play weeknights and through out the weekend. Hit me up here or on XBL.

Have you received your standard version that is set to release in two days or are you referring to an earlier available variant?

I have the D2C press.  All pressings should sound exactly the same as they all should come from the same metal parts. Random pressing defects would be the only difference.

I just felt like the hype had died down a bit but didn't wanted people to forget that it's a great sounding pressing and will be available on Friday.
