i think it's beyond issues with TWY. chris showed lapses in respect regarding customer service, but more so, i think he simply struck gold with being close friends with the wonder years and IIOI. that could only pay dividends for so long. he took chances on lesser artists hoping (perhaps arrogantly assuming) the momentum would keep up.
 
but yeah, like toki said, i don't think i've purchased anything since 2012 -- except for this repress, because i would like this as a double. but whatever, man. it'll come when it comes.

i can confirm that erin choi is awesome (it may have been me who mentioned her in the first place). she supplies me with pressing information all the time and will definitely let you know if there are any test presses available for sale.
 
and yes, steady7, she may even be polite enough to check their warehouse/backstock for anything that's allegedly out of press (she did for me once, to no avail, unfortunately). whether they will actually sell you test presses or OOP stuff is another matter, but it's worth a try, and she's very polite and helpful.

NYC residents: there's a sealed promotional copy of this at Rough Trade in Williamsburg for $40 in one of their used bins. If I wasn't here on work I'd get it but it's too much hassle. Just throwing it out there given some recent eBay prices.

also: it's a dickload of money, but given that the 2nd most limited variant is $65, and the test press pack with the most limited variant is $120... they're basically throwing in a test press for less than the cost of a retail variant. for anyone who's into that shit, it's hard to justify not getting it.
 
although -- and correct me if i'm wrong -- it seems like they actually ran 100 fucking test presses to make 100 bundles. sooo that's crazy.

you like some of the songs but you've still "lost them"? i've enjoyed the singles from NCTH (haven't streamed the leak yet) and that's pretty much all that has stuck with me from suburbia. i barely listen to that album. so i'll call this one a winner so far.
 
they'll lose me when it's all garbage. such gold's "the new sidewalk" was unlistenable. whatever album four year strong released after "enemy of the world" was unlistenable. when it gets that bad... that's when they'll lose me.
